He just posted a story from Antwerp so he’s back home. We probably won’t see him are at least a few weeks if not later. Hopefully he and Grünloh can join on the same timeline.

“Late summer” was the timeline I heard. I don’t think anybody really knows anything more specific given the visa gridlock. Imagine both will be behind a bit to start.

Has anyone followed when the other top internationals are/have come over? Sarr, the kid UNC got, the kid VT got (think he has national team stuff so late summer for him as well). Point being, even if it is Aug, it will be in line with our top internationals coming over for this season

Sarr came over for Hoop Summit in April IIRC (and without getting permission from Barcelona), so might be a special case.
You might have to leave and re-enter on the new visa? Not that knowledgeable on immigration law, but I know there are a lot of cases like that.
My guess is we don’t see him then either. U20 Eurobasket for Grünloh goes through July 20, wouldn’t expect De Ridder before that either. I assume they’re roommates, they wouldn’t put Johann all alone in an empty apartment!

Do we know if TDR is expected to join the Belgian national team for Eurobasket 2025?
The dates overlap basically with the first full month of the semester, group stage 8/27 - 9/5, with the knockout round stretching until 9/14.
I’m assuming so. He played in all 6 of their EuroBasket qualifiers, playing around 17 mpg, with his 2 starts coming in their last 2 games, and was their leading rebounder with 5 rpg.

Don’t think they’re too likely to go far in the knockouts; they were in the 5th-seeded pot of 4 teams. 4 out of 6 teams in each group qualify for the knockouts, so they have a realistic shot at getting there.
Speaking of playing for the national teams, it looks like Carrere didn’t make the final cut for France’s U19 team due to unspecified injury: Les U19 en ordre de marche pour le Mondial | FFBB

I was looking at the senior Eurobasket dates too. Surely he cannot miss a full month of the semester though? Add/drop is September 9/10, you’d have to have some very understanding professors.

You can only do what the visa you entered in allows you to do, so if you enter on a tourist visa, then you can only do tourist things. Can’t work or go to school or speak at the UN, etc. The US and Europe are on the visa waiver program, so people with EU passports don’t have to separately get a tourist visa to visit the US, they’re assumed to have one when they cross the border.
So if you want to go to school and have the visa already, you have to leave the country and come back in to have the educational visa stamped when you cross the border. But that’s any border, you can drive to Canada or Mexico if you want (assuming you have the right visa to get into those countries - pretty sure they both have visa waiver with the EU though). It used to be the case that if you had all your paperwork and approvals, you could drive to the US embassy or one of the consulates in Canada/Mexico (even if you were not a citizen of those countries) and do your interview and get your new visa on the spot, but I don’t know if that’s the case anymore.
What was my point again? Oh yeah, just wanted to say a person doesn’t necessarily have to go back to their home country to get the new visa sticker affixed to their passport. Sorry for the block of text again.

Does it matter? How does the House salary cap realities impact the ability of the ncaa in competing with euro pro leagues?
I’ve just assumed out Europeans are one and done either for the NBA or back to higher paying leagues.
Kalinowski has been on top of the De Ridder recruitment, and I’m pretty sure he said he heard one year of eligibility. So I’m assuming it’ll be one.
