Men’s and women’s hammer throwers have advanced to nationals from the regional in Jacksonville!!!
Keyandre Davis did it on his final throw finishing 6th - top 12 advance.
Annika Kelly set a school record at 213-1 feet in the hammer - 3rd record broken by her this season!!!
Others have advanced past first round with quarters coming up!!!

Gotta get to Oregon first - they’ll race each other in the quarters - actually separate heats - in the 1500 in Jacksonville this weekend - good chance both advance. They’ve already gotten through round 1 along with another Hoo Billy Atkinson.
Billy will need a slow heat and try to kick late as he has the slowest best time of the remaining 26 runners.
Christiana Ellina just missed by 3 feet qualifying for Nationals in Javelin after she threw 159-7 - a very disappointing 13 Feet off her season best which would have easily qualified.
Finished 16th in East regional
Margot Appleton and Stella Kermes have advanced to quarters in women’s 1500.
Tatum David finished 40 of 48.

Championship day for the men at NCAAs tonight in Eugene.
Gary Martin is running the 1500 tonight at about 8:12 PM Eastern; should be a good race against UNC’s Ethan Strand for the title, but anything can happen in the 1500.
UVA also has two guys running the 5K later in the night.

Gary Martin snuck into the finals as the 12th fastest out of 12 finalists - edged out 13th by 7/100 of a second

Hoos hammer throwers men’s and women finished 15th and 14th nationally.
Margot Appleton finished 9th in the semifinals of the 1500 to advance into the final tomorrow
Jenny Schilling finished 17th in the 10,000 meter final
I didn’t get a chance to see the semis on Wednesday, but what I’ve read about the 1500 was that heat 1, which Martin was in, was extremely slow.
Liam Murphy from Villanova and Abel Teffra from Georgetown didn’t survive that heat, robbing us of what would’ve been an epic 1500 final.
Gary Martin finishes fifth in a slow, tactical race with a wild finish. He was in a good spot, but just didn’t have his kick when he went to it.
That’s crazy!! 11 guys within 7/10 of a second of the winner!! Wow!
