🏀 Transfer Commits uncommitted after committing tracker - 2024

Ross was a former 4-star (247’s #60 in the '21 class) who has so far never put it together in three years at State, played 48 total minutes last year. Ultimately decided to potentially stay a bench piece (probably stuck behind Middlebrooks, BHH, Dennis Parker, and Dontrez Styles going into the season) and get his NC State degree rather than chase PT for one year halfway across the country. Nothing wrong with that I think.

Its more the transfer commitment rescinding… nothing is 100% there.

Woof for Nova, late in the game to be losing guys of this magnitude, he was a Top 50 transfer on EvanMiya.

Kyle Neptune is doing a heck of a job. Terrible to see how far that program has fallen so fast

They’ve got a lot riding on Eric Dixon’s decision whether or not to stay in the NBA Draft over the next week. Otherwise they’re really only bringing back something like 2 players from their main rotation (Mark Armstrong and Jordan Longino).

They still have Tyler Perkins (Penn) and Jhamir Brickus (La Salle) as respectable perimeter transfers to play with Armstrong and Longino. But the front court (aside from maybe Dixon) has nothing proven, only a quartet of promising but raw front court freshmen.

Are all three of their freshmen really power forwards? Hodge is listed as a SF on On3, but our staff certainly saw him as a frontcourt player. And then the other two are listed as PFs.

And then they have Dumont coming off a redshirt year (I assume) who was a 3 star SF.

Armstrong is staying in the draft, BTW.

Definitely should not have bought those Villanova-UVa tickets so quickly. They’ll be dirt cheap come November.

Apparently Nova is all-in on Wooga Poplar, which will help with the perimeter depth. I think you can run a Top 4 perimeter of Poplar, Longino, Perkins, and Brickus and be at least competent, but that doesn’t solve the problem of their frontcourt. Obviously the Dixon decision looms large. Did see they’re going after Fresno State upperclassman big man Enoch Boakye.

As we saw a couple of weeks ago with our roster, you can’t count out a flurry of surprise Portal news that changes the whole outlook in a week.

Starting to really like our chances against Villanova, especially if Dixon stays in the draft as I suspect he will.

Maybe Toby Lawal would like to rejoin Shulga…
