Dave, you think transfers should be required to sign some form of NLI?
Havenât fully wrapped my mind around what would be the bestâŚ. But for example, what about the guys at UCLA that thought they were set with 13 scholarships and then Trent Perry comes in⌠Any of those guys should be allowed to go pursue somewhere else if they want to.
Oh great. So all of our commits from this past weekend are âfor now?â LOL
Actually true until they enroll⌠I guess thatâs one good thing about the Virginia credit situation is that most transfers have to enroll in June classes to catch up so they will be committed sooner than a lot of other places where they donât enroll till the fall.
Transfers just sign a scholarship agreementâŚcompletely non binding for them. Letters of Intent are only for high school players. So yeah transfers can just flip whenever, nothing to stop it.
But guys who didnât enter the transfer portal⌠theyâre stuck?
Correct. Itâs the sort of thing where thereâs an argument that every player should enter the NBA Draft and the Transfer Portal as soon as the season ends, just to keep their options open, if youâre willing to take the gamble your coach wonât fill your scholarship with someone else.
Yeah, thatâs exactly what I was wondering. The incentive structure is messed up.
Thatâs what I am saying, should they have to sign something binding like HS recruits? Not that it would matter, most schools would ârelease themâ just like hs recruits if they asked,
What is the final deadline for normal students to complete a transfer? I feel like that should be what applies here but every school is different
Just a matter time til thereâs a court case that blows up NLIs too.
Short video. I donât usually venture to F68, but I had to click it. Ignore everything Goodman saysâŚhe is just so dumb. Dauster has a few good comments.
It really surprises me that none of these national guys know Eli even existsâŚI guess it shouldnât, but they are going to wonder how they missed him, I think.
High school recruits arenât required to sign NLIâs either. Itâs just customary and provides them protection by binding the school (as well as themselves).
For the Hoos, Antoine Womack didnât sign one when he flipped from Penn State to UVA as a football recruit.

For some reason Perryâs recruitment reminds me of Womacks! I know theyâre different but I had the same vibe back then that itâs not final.
Transfer recruiting is confusing⌠LOL!
