UC Irvine Transfer Jurian Dixon Commits!
UC Irvine Transfer Jurian Dixon has committed to the Virginia Cavaliers! In a quick and unexpected recruitment that rings very similar to several of the transfers last season, Jurian Dixon has decided to come to Charlottesville to play for Ryan Odom and UVa.

Breaking the Transfer Seal
This marks the first new player to be added to the roster for the 2026/27 season and keeping the streak alive, there is no indication that Dixon made any sort of stealth visit to Grounds before committing.
Relationships factored into this recruitment process, Odom is very close with UC Irvine head coach Russell Turner from their Hampden Sydney days and having former anteater Devin Tillis on this past years squad didn’t hurt.

Skilled Combo Guard
Jurian is a lanky 6 foot 4 combo guard who played alongside Mikey Williams at an Ysidro High School in San Diego, California. He committed to UC Irvine out of HS and was named First Team All-Big West last year before entering the portal earlier this month. He was named conference rookie of the year for the 24/25 season. He will have 2 years to play regardless of the 5 for 5 ruling as he redshirted his first season.
Roster Fit
Signing Dixon puts the Hoos in a good position. He’s capable enough to be relied upon as a starter, but he also leaves the staff room to chase a starter, being either a 5th year if that’s approved or a highly regarded Euro. I’d personally prefer this route to give Dixon a season to adjust to ACC play before being asked to do more heavy lifting. Either way though, he will be playing solid minutes.
What’s Next
This now gives the Hoos eight scholarship players. They still have room for a few more contributors. A second center and a ball handler are the biggest positions of need currently.
With things ever changing between the 5 for 5 impending decisions and the Euro landscape factoring more into recruitments each cycle, it’s a great time of year to sign up for Locker Room Access VIP!
