Spain vs. Germany - what a match. Spain definitely looks like the team to beat this year.
How about Pepe? He was 9 million and 1!
I think FIFA needs to take a page out of the NHL & TST, The Soccer Tournament, and radically change knockout round games…
Have a 30 minute OT like normal, but remove a player from each team every 5 minutes. If they can’t score in the last 5 minutes of 5 vs 5… then they can move to PKs… but i don’t it ever gets there.
He wasn’t bad, maybe even good!
Ronaldo did a nice impression of a man aimlessly walking around a park. And took some dumb shots from bad free kick angles.
I love Pepe… he makes me feel young. Anyone who can be north of 40 and run 120 minutes in an International football match effectively is my hero.
That’s close to how HS field hockey handles OT. Normally its 11v11, but in OT it goes to 7v7. Then penalties after that, but I’ve never seen a scoreless OT in high school. Its just too easy for players to break free with that much space.
I don’t think its handled that way at any other level, which is too bad.
Yay a reason for these guys to get excited.
I have enjoyed England playing a brand of football everyone hates but they just keep stumbling forward to victory. It’s honestly hilarious. Like if they win there legitimately still might be a contingent of England fans who want to fire Southgate, which is amazing.
We were in Portugal at the time, so I forced my wife to leave the resort and find a bar in which to watch the game. That ended up being real depressing, and no one had good things to say about Ronaldo (or so I assume based on the yelling and hand gestures)
