I definitely got that impression based on his April 20th interview where he contrasted UVA and Duke’s recruiting styles.
To be a Duke one and doner, I would think you need more weight and strength than Christie currently has.
Since he is one of the few we offered ages ago, Im sure he would be a great fit.
I remember watching the WCAC championship game and being impressed by his game. His all around game is very solid. Feel bad for him though because I think the spring/summer was going to be big for him. He would’ve landed some nice offers but he still might being a top 75 player.
Brief blurb on Keels from Corey Evans. Nothing really new.
I will say it again, Angelo can ball.
Thanks Tu , if we offer him we might have an edge on the ping pong playing. If I’m remembering correctly Coach Bennett is very good at ping pong, lol. I’ve just watched a little film but from what I’ve seen he is very good. Hopefully we are keeping an eye on him and I suspect we are
Lol can confirm that the entire Bennett family is next level at ping pong. Can still feel the welts from playing sting pong with Eli ![]()
Keels has done the virtual visit thing with all the serious contender now, except maybe Duke. I guess it’s too much to hope that could be enough information for him.
Heard that this guy is awesome… also heard that he’s probably Villanova bound. We’ll see on the second part.
He seems like a Villanova guard if there ever was one though.
Is it possible that him saying he wanted to take the on campus visits was a smokescreen and that he is actually close to committing as originally reported? I feel like I’ve seen a bunch of recruitments where a recruit says they’re still open and deciding. Hell, I think there was a report in the last couple days of Kerwin Walton still deciding on a school. Thirty minutes later he committed to UNC
Wouldn’t call it a smokescreen. He definitely wants to take those visits. Now whether he’s actually willing to hold off until that can happen is another story.
We’ve recruited a lot of Takeover guys. They handle the recruitment process really well. Their director should probably write a guide for others. Max out, move forward, don’t cheat it, but don’t mess around. Well Trevor’s maxed out, he’s been moving forward, he’d like to not cheat the process (see all his top options), but he won’t mess around (lose options).
UVA wants that guard spot done first. It’s where all the focus is, even some we don’t see yet.
No UVA mention from Kendall Brown
If we’re falling off for Brown and with Reeves announcing soon, Keels is appears to be our only chance for a top 50 big guard, unless we could pull a Christie stunner. Eggs might really be all in one basket.
Tony is a very good golfer also.
Kendall Brown was NEVER going tu UVA and im hearing he is a G League candidate.
Some of you aren’t going to like this. I’m just going to lay it out the best I can.
Downgrade Virginia’s chances with DaRon Holmes, a lot. In April, we always learn about what the coaches are up to by their actions during the live periods. This is one of those things we would have found out. I’ve been trying to ask around about each of them but couldn’t get much on Holmes and he hasn’t talked about his recruitment in a while. @JoeBoxley got the key facts of this through his own very reliable source.
Bennett has cooled on him. And it’s not a new development, has been that way for months. It goes back to TB’s way of recruiting for specific roles. He’s looking for something different, kind of a modernized version of Anthony Gill. Offensive skill at the 4 spot, aggressive on the boards. Someone more like Trey Kaufman. They feel they have DaRon’s key traits already just a class ahead in Kadin Shedrick. It’s nothing he’s done wrong at all. In fact, Holmes stock is soaring in the eyes of other coaches.
He’s not off the board entirely. He’s just more back under evaluation instead of being recruited. We’ve seen this type of behavior before under Bennett. Sometimes the player shows the improvement he’s looking for and things pick back up later.
Rats. Really like the kid. Am hopeful he re-emerges in recruiting, especially since he is most likely going to commit in the spring of 2021.
I was literally just watching these highlights yesterday lol. Sochan or Kaufman make more sense in fitting that mobile forward role but Holmes is 100% Mamadi without the redshirt/rawness. #InTonyITrust
Im cool with it. Gotta trust our coach. I’d just like to see us fill our open scholarships with top 150 prospects at minimum from here on out. Give me Sochan, Kaufman, Holmes, whoever Bennett wants, I want.
Seems premature to be deprioratizing a really highly ranked kid, who reportedly likes is a lot, who is tight with our top priority big target (as I recall). It’s not like the rest of the class is in the bag. It still could go in multiple directions. Why not keep a variety of balls in the air (for now)?
The positive spin here is the staff must be happy with Kadin’s potential and development. The versatility of mixing and matching skillsets optimally within the scholarship limit cannot be overstated. CTB likes to exploit matchups on offense and as part of the packline.
