Some promising news though, the announced starter on the UVA baseball website for tomorrow’s game against Maryland is LHP Bradley Hodges, who is making his return after having Tommy John surgery last spring.

Has been mentioned before in previous threads that he’s been practicing and throwing warmup in pregame, but this is an incredibly fast recovery for someone coming off of TJ. Didn’t expect him back this early but excited to see how he looks.

Sirois for Hanson at 3B. Wells starting again at C. Didawick still getting his chance in LF.

Gonna be another score update day, might keep that up for the next couple weeks. Feel bad about spamming the top of the board with my full blown PBP when people are looking for coaching updates lol.

I appreciate it lol.

Will still only be score updates today cause I’m probably gonna have to head out for a couple innings later.

First inning Didawick had a nice falling catch in LF. 1-2-3 for Hodges.

Hoos got a couple 2 out singles but couldn’t push any runners across the plate.

Hodges works around a walk with a couple K’s in the top of the 2nd.

Apparently he’s on a pitch count of 40.

Haha, that almost any other outfielder for us catches upright.

Making the routine spectacular!

Didawick covered a ton of ground just to get to that ball.

1-0 Maryland after 3. Alex Markus now in the game for Hodges.

Scratch that, Evan Blanco now takes over on the mound.

Yeah I thought diddy had a long way to go and by the look of it the elements (sun, maybe wind?) could be giving some trouble. Maryland CF had a ball hit almost directly to him and he almost came in too far on it.

Up here from Richmond for my dad’s 74th birthday. CLAS of ‘73.

Absolutely. What hurts him is the hesitation before the jump. Has trouble picking up the ball at times.

DH all the way — which is why a draft-eligible soph with his offensive numbers came back.

Blanco on the bump is not what I wanted today… I was hoping he’d get in the weekend rotation this week

Honestly I’ve always thought Didawick could stick in LF in terms of his raw fielding. He is a good runner and athlete who has the size to rob HR’s.

The obvious issue though is his throwing, whatever the fuck is wrong with his arm will absolutely push him out of the field if it continues.

He certainly appears to have the tools — but can’t put it together.

Game tied at 1 after 4.

We stole a run the old school way that inning, 1st and 3rd with two outs we sent the runner from 1st who gets in a rundown letting the runner from 3rd score before he got tagged out.

FWIW Evan only threw about 30 pitches so he would be ok to go this weekend. That isn’t much different than throwing a bullpen.

Don’t like to see that. For those not watching, Blake hit the batter in the face. Batter leaving the field appears to be bleeding and clearly shaken up.
