3-3 B8.
BC has bases loaded with one out after Woolfolk was hit with a pitch clock violation on a 3-2 count.
Hungate got us out of the jam with a pop up, then a web gem in left — diving catch by Teel.
Bats didn’t leave Cville.

Hungate gets out of the jam unscathed, aided by Teel making an awesome diving play on a fly ball in LCF.
Still tied at 3 going into the 9th.
This umpire crew is something else.
Stuck with a call when the ump at 1B called an out with no view of the play and was overturned by the home plate ump who had a clear view. Then they stick with 1B call and review can’t overturn.
Then we stupidly send Stephan on an error on a FC, but their pitcher definitely blocks the plate without the ball during Stephan’s slide. Out is called, somehow review upholds.
Would be nice to have a bigger lead than 4-3 going into B9.
Yeah we got hosed on both calls that frame. Hilariously bad umpiring, why even have the rules in place if you’re not gonna enforce them.
Just gotta hope and pray we can hold this lead here in the bottom of the 9th.
Good guys win 4-3.
Nice W.
HOOS win 4-3 to tie the series and improve to 32-12 (13-10). BC falls to 21-20 (8-15).
We’ll see you tomorrow 1PM for the rubber match.
Thank god for Chase Hungate.

Game three, start time was moved up 30 minutes to 12:30.
No PBP again today but will try to provide updates every inning or so.
Game is scoreless after 1. BC got two on but Savino worked out of it with a 6-4-3 double play.
Still scoreless after 2.
2-0 HOOS after 3. Savino strands two more runners.
Still 2-0 HOOS after 4. We’ve hit some balls hard today but the ball isn’t carrying at all. Anderson in particular tattooed one to dead CF that was just a routine fly out.
4-0 HOOS after 5. Having to play small ball today and manufacture runs with the ball not carrying. Doing a pretty good job so far.
4-0 HOOS after 6. Whalen made a really nice diving catch in CF to rob BC of a double/triple that inning.
4-0 HOOS after 7. Stranded two more BC runners, Teel with the K to get out of it.
4-0 HOOS after 8. Hungate comes in for Barker after Blake took a liner off the ankle and strands two more runners.
HOOS win 4-0 to take the weekend series and improve to 33-12 (14-10) on the season. BC falls to 21-21 (8-16).
We’ll see you next Tuesday 6:30 PM for our road midweek game against VCU.
Had to have this series, couldn’t afford to lose 2/3 to BC so good to bounce back after the rough game one at Fenway.
We got two midweek games and then the exam break, which I think is coming at a very good time. Gives us an opportunity to shuffle the pitching staff whichever way we want and also Savino/Moore some further healing from their prior injuries.
Savino is slowly coming to form. And Hungate has been very competitive. Couldn’t have asked for a better time for the break to restack the deck.
Wouldn’t have thought this team could win a series with only 10 total runs.
