Ugh, run ourselves out of two innings.

  • Stephan walks on four pitches, he’s seen 8 balls and 0 strikes so far tonight. One on and nobody down for Saucke.
  • Review incoming, Dook seems to think they just picked Stephan off at 1st. On replay it’s definitely close. Tough to see if Stephan gets his hand in before he gets tagged, can’t see this being overturned but with ACC umps you never know.
  • Call stands. Stephan remains at 1st, one on and nobody down still for Saucke. 1-1 count.
  • Wild pitch moves Stephan up a base. Runner on 2nd and nobody down now for Saucke, 2-1 count.

  • Miller lines a double into the RCF gap off the wall. Runner on 2nd and two down for Gracia.
  • Gracia bloops a flare into shallow RCF that finds grass. Miller scores from 2nd, 5-1 HOOS. One on and two down for Bravo.

Heading into the 4th, HOOS now lead 5-1.

I have a question for you gentlemen: is there some unwritten rule that a guy has to adjust his junk before each pitch? Obviously, I don’t have junk so this is a mystery to me.

The baseball answer is because of superstition and wanting to keep your routine in the batter’s box.

The serious answer is because your cup adjusts a lot.

Ah. I should have figured that. It’s just funny to me.

Hope the Hoos triumph over the Dookies tonight; last night was a disappointment.

Two HBP and a BB and no runs — that’s the type of inning that Duke put up a crooked number in last night. Hope that doesn’t come back to haunt us.
