Looks like Blanco will be getting the start again today.

HOOS up 5-0 on W&M after two complete.

Now 5-4 HOOS heading to the bottom of the 3rd.

Really strange last half inning, we took Blanco out (assuming he’s still on a pitch count) and put Arroyo on the mound cold out of the dugout. No bullpen warmup or anything, second time in a row we’ve tried that with him and once again it went very poorly. Arroyo couldn’t locate at all and got pulled for Arrington after only recording one out and giving up a host of baserunners.

Ference with a solo shot!!

You don’t think it an injury flare up? Just sounds weird if you knew there’d be a quick pitch count to not have someone warming up…

It being the second time in a row they’ve tried that with Arroyo makes me think it was planned that way. But don’t know for sure.

Massive update: Jack O’Connor just entered the game on the mound.

O’Connor works a 1-2-3 inning and was hitting 97 on his FB. Very encouraging.

Oh shit.

Also I missed the part about arroyo subbing cold for blancos pitch count the first time… strange strategy yeah not sure what to make of that.

A couple of posters on Sabre said that Augustin won’t pitch this year. Have you heard this!

I personally haven’t but based on the posters backing that info it leads me to believe that’s accurate.

And unfortunately the writing has kinda been on the wall with Augustin given we haven’t heard any updates since preseason when we were told he was behind other arms. Seems like a nagging injury that requires extra precaution/potentially surgery.

Unfortunate if true. Luckily for the Hoos there are more arms coming around. JOC working back in so quickly makes me think Oak wasn’t kidding about Hodges returning soon either. Both probably figure into the pen this year? I also think down the stretch Moore will as well. My pick for weekend starters would be Evan Jay Tomas although it may take a few more weeks to settle out…

I’m conflicted on Hodges. Everything about TJ surgery would project that he should be at minimum a month away from even considering a return for us, but we’ve also heard he’s throwing warmup in pregame and practicing. So who knows how close he is.

I think Moore either gets moved to the pen or midweek once Blanco comes back. The last start he had really concerned me, he was a few ticks down on his FB and couldn’t locate at all for some reason, am hoping he didn’t tweak something and it was just an isolated bad day for him.

Yeah I’m basically thinking the same way on both fronts. Velo was way down on Moores last start hopefully just an isolated incident…

And to be clear being the midweek guy for this pitching staff is hardly being demoted. Lot of good top end arms here, someone is going to get squeezed out. (Not that you said or even implied it, just making the point haha)

Moore could be an elite midweek guy and would easily be able to fill in for a game in regionals if needed.

Sunday starter “to be announced.” Worried about Moore now. Depth really going to be tested.
