Bottom of the 9th, Colarusso still on the mound for BC. Becker leads off for the Hoos.
Becker K’s looking on three pitches. One down for Godbout.
Godbout flies out to Magpoc in deep LCF next to the warning track. Two down for Arroyo.
Arroyo lines a base hit into LF. One on and two down for Ford.
Ford flies out to Ragsdale in deep CF and that ends it.
BC takes game one of the weekend 7-4 to improve to 5-5 (1-0) on the season. UVA falls to 8-4 (0-1). We’ll see you tomorrow at 1PM EST as the Hoos try to even up the series.
That game is a perfect example of fucking around and finding out. You let a mediocre team hang around for long enough, go 0-4 with RISP on the game, eventually they put some pressure on you with baserunners and all of a sudden you give up 5 runs in an inning and are melting down. Just a piss poor final five frames at the plate for us, kept in Lanzendorfer a little too long and then Osinski couldn’t finish off hitters when he got ahead in the count.
Boys gotta reset quick because we really can’t lose 2/3 to this team. They were picked 16th in the ACC for a reason.
Yeah not sure why he wasn’t in the lineup, I understand Ference had gotten his avg up to .280 coming into this game which is decent enough and Nunnallee was coming off a couple good performances but Wells has done nothing but hit in his opportunities. The simple thing to do is move Nunnallee to LF and have Wells DH, but who knows. Seems like they wanna keep giving Didawick chances, but at some point those are gonna start running thin especially when he’s still having issues throwing the ball out of the outfield.
I love UVA and I always support UVA sports, but this exactly has been the story of the baseball team so far this season. They’re still monumentally talented, but I really hope they figure out how to put it together at some point.
Perhaps GOF,Saucke,Anderson, and Stephan (when he played) hid some of our bad hitters. I hope we whip some ass today but this team lacks a spark or something…. I know they’re talented
1st error was on Hanson, hard hit grounder to him that hit off his glove and trickled into shallow LF.
2nd error couldn’t tell if it was a bad play from Wells or Hanson, Wells tried to pick off the runner at 3rd but the ball ended up in left which allowed a run to score. Error was attributed to Wells but Hanson might have been late covering the bag.
