UVA Basketball 2022-2023 Post Mortem Thread/Transfer out thread

I wish we were capable of holding onto and developing talent organically. That seems to lead the our best defense.

But I guess those are the good ol’ days in the new transfer era.

the packline is still in effective defense… but walking the ball up the court and passing it around for 25 seconds and shooting a long range 2 point shot with a 5’8 point guard is not an effective offense.

tony might want to re-consider a zone defense. Not for the majority of possessions but … newbies have a very hard time with the pack. Might help our Bigs especially.

Often times in life systematic change is only brought about by crisis…

Well then Traudt shouldn’t have redshirted and beaten BVP out. I’m thinking he thought he couldn’t do that with his defense and rebounding.

Tony didn’t make him.

The upside is Blake Buchanan should play a lot next year and possibly start. We will see how we can develop a highly ranked big.

There’s a 1% chance Buchanan is starting. We’ll likely add 1-2 frontcourt transfers to do that. Best case is he gets Dunn like mins next season

Blake is a big guy from out west with an Elite 8 program just a short distance from home. Let’s redshirt him. What could possibly go wrong?

Let’s get him past the hoop summit hurdle first

Wait until I tell you his folks are all about development and are cool with a redshirt.

Let’s also confirm he has a cute gf that he’s head-over-heels for, 2K miles away before finalizing the RS decision.

Let me tell you that his girlfriend goes to Gonzaga(I don’t think that’s true I just wanted to join in on the fun)

Maybe CTB needs a sixth pilar celibacy. Teach these boys to be chaste in their actions and dealings with women.

Well, catching up on the news of the day. Just relying on ‘free’ info, I guess part of me was holding out hope up until today.

Not as far along in the grief curve, so I’ll just say that I’m pretty bummed out, in both cases.

I miss 2014-2019 UVa basketball. Not sure such a volatile roster environment (in general) is a good fit for what we’re trying to do here. Thank goodness we cashed in when we had the chance.

Wasn’t he looking for a NIL bag? Providence offers that?

I thought I read/heard during the Cooley saga that Providence had a decent NIL program. Is this something that’s easier for private schools?

NIL just remains such a black box in my mind…

We were (are?) on the precipice of becoming elite again. Most important offseason since when?

I would say Tony’s first.

I think Georgetown promising substantial NIL funds was part of the sweetener for Cooley IIRC but I am sure Providence does have some funds.
