Those are fire. Put an LRA logo on them and I’m in.

The one post player that would have been dominant was Austin Nichols.

That’s an alternate timeline I’d really like to see play out. But he didn’t pass the sniff test.

still, he was quite the glue guy

I am a serial optimist but I share several of the concerns @WFS_HOO has. I think of them as “questions the team has to answer.” Rim pressure hasn’t exactly been a strong suit of the team historically; our last good 2pt shooting season was 2021, and that was blunted by that team being completely unable to generate points from the FT line. Whether it comes from post scoring, pick and roll finishing, or perimeter drives, to have a good offense, you need to be able to manufacture some points at the rim/at the line after getting fouled at the rim.

Drawing a comical amount of FTs against TSU is a fine first step, but I’m cautious about predicting out based off of that because of TSU’s extreme fascination with committing as many fouls as possible.

My issue here is his handles while live at the game was a little loose. Would much rather he play off ball.

I am not sold on Harris’ handles yet. Looks like he dribbles a little high and wild and also at risk of the carry if we encounter a tight ass ref.

Again… from what I saw live… his handles looked good, but then he tries to drive north/south to the basket and then when he gets to the rim it’s a 50/50 proposition whether he has the body control to make the circus bunny. Similar to Reece :bangbang: btw…

Team needs to study film on this bunny… I don’t think he misses… automatic…

On TV it looked like Rohde got flustered at times, getting himself into situations with the ball where he didn’t know what to do, and he ended up forcing a shot or throwing a dangerous pass. I’ll hope that’s just a matter of settling in.

This is why LOW lights are sometimes as good as HIGH lights when watching guys…

Watching highlights… the game of basketball is easy. It’s raining threes and slam dunks all over the place.

I hope so, too, but his bad turn around jumper that barely got iron was something I saw some of in his Tommies tape. He had this odd mix of being a really heady, solid, consistent player, who sometimes takes odd, forced shots.

I think he still has muscle memory from being relied on as a volume scorer last year. He’s still learning when and where to be aggressive. He’ll be a huge beneficiary of Isaac is going to play like he did as he’ll have room to operate.

Here, I edited for you.

I don’t mind Rohde taking shots like that turnaround. We need guys who hunt shots. People forget how truly forced and awful some of Ty’s shots were. Last year, we had a lot of guys turning down good looks, or reluctant to attack. (That includes Reece.) Given a choice between too aggressive and too passive, I’ll take the former.

Along those lines, I was happy to see iMac and Ryan shoot from outside without hesitating, and loved Leon’s baseline move and mid-range jumper.

I agree with caveat that I want them to be appropriately aggressive (but I like guys who push the line)

Sorry, should’ve clarified. I think that team had more high end talent. Hauser, Murphy, Huff are better than our top 3 right now. But this team is deeper with talent.

Not sure we’re going to see tighter refs than the ones on Monday night (47 fouls and 23 reviews, it seemed).

I need to be optimistic about the team in the same way I need coffee to get through the day.

Tip of the hat to @WFS_HOO for the rose colored glasses reference.

It was nice to see that even after we’d essentially pulled our starters, the lineup we had out there was still a pretty good team! A deep quality bench (Harris, Taine, Bond, Blake, Minor) is a luxury we haven’t had in a while.
