UVA Is Out of ACCT After Positive Covid Test

UVa is independent of Charlottesville or Albemarle regulations for the things I’m aware of. They pay no property tax, for example, unless the land/building is held by a UVa foundation rather than the university itself. They can build whatever they want, where they want if they own the land. I would assume the same is true of health regulations and it is ultimately UVa’s call.

State agencies are typically immune from regulations, but at the same time, they also frequently voluntarily comply with them to avoid criticism. Having said that, it is one thing to voluntarily comply for a mid-season game against somebody like Wake Forest. It’s another thing to voluntarily comply when an NCAA trip and game are on the line.

Coach Bennett is the most popular, most respected, most well known person associated with UVa. I think this decision is his and none of the higher ups is going to overrule him and risk him taking another job somewhere else. If he leaves and it’s because he was overruled on this, those 2 won’t be keeping their jobs very long.

I trust CTB and believe if the decision is left to him, he would make the right choice. That being said, isn’t it a problem if a coach doesn’t get his way, both the AD and the University President are gone? Seems to lead to some of the abuse problems we have seen at other schools where a coach is too powerful. LSU being the latest example. Again, not that I see this as an issue with CTB. Just don’t like the principle.

Guess that mean no practice. Eeek

But I’m assuming that means we’d have a full roster on Saturday… besides whoever tested positive?

Practice is overrated

We can practice on Thursday. Leave for Indy Friday. We can do individual workouts until then. This doesn’t seem that bad.

Not being able to practice is tough news especially after hearing that Kansas has practiced the last few days. It’s good to hear though that the majority of the guys should be able to play and that they can at least work out on their own.

It’s definitely not ideal but sure as heck better than the alternative. I’ll take two days of practice and a almost full roster

Just to be clear, this is what we’ve been talking about in regard to local guidelines. It’s been reduced. They got what they wanted. Should have everybody available except the one player who tested positive. It’s huge. If they hadn’t made the exception, we’d have played a lineup of mostly walk ons.

Bubba Chuck never said practice is overrated, he just didn’t know why there was such an emphasis on it. And granted how good he was I don’t blame him

Wasn’t there something tragic going on off the court when that presser happened too? Want to say one of his close childhood friends died or something along those lines.

Yup, one of his friends had recently been murdered and he was concerned for his own safety.

Justin out and about, assume one of the individual workouts that are allowed.
