There has to be an off the court reason. There is no way a coach as good as Tony Bennett is making such an obvious mistake for basketball reasons.
I can only assume that in practice, Murray and Igor cherry pick and refuse to cross half court and play defense. It’s the only poor defense excuse that would justify their lack of playing time.
There better be or Tony is going to start taking a lot of heat from the fanbase and deservedly so. He’s obviously beloved here but the idea he’s above criticism is ridiculous.
Huge block. And this team looks like they’d rather be asleep.
Wow. They are not having fun.
If it’s an off the court reason to keep you off the court for basically all 11 games, it’s enough to keep you off the team. Or at the very least keep you in street clothes on the bench.
Thank God for Jayden Gardner. If im another ACC team I just straight up triple team Jayden Gardner.
Repeating what Ive said ad infinitum, but playing this season with a defensive focus is bad coaching. This team is currently so so on defense, and is capped at just good. (35-50 or so?).
So what Tony is doing only makes sense if there is a longer term element (what I’ve called culture) or something we can’t see, like effort (or to 9412’s point…) or something off court.
- 20+
- 30+
- 50+
- Let the future see the court? Yeah right!

Kody… missing layups.
Playing a defensive focus with our athletes, otherwise? It’s bordering on malpractice. (Not to mention a very very undersized PG and a very very undersized PF). Does not compute. It’s like Tony is reading his own press clippings and forgot that his best defenses were filled with ACC level plus athletes.
Yep. We’re not holding ACC teams not named Pitt in the 50s. Got to start stretching and spreading the floor. Why can’t a HOF coach see this coming
I mean same coaching staff that lost to Ohio with 3 NBA players on the court.
We’ve got to be more dynamic. This season and last, the layman fan can design a scheme to stop these teams…
ACCN guy even calling Tony out for the rotation
And the one before that we couldn’t score on a paper bag
Another thing is, sometimes in basketball when a shot go up it can actually go in. Malachi did make another nice pass though and led to a trip to the charity stripe. Just a bit weird seeing a shooter on offense and really don’t get the rock when he’s in position. Good first half. I want to see some outside shots knocked down by anyone.
So essentially, this eight man rotation has four players who are hesitant to shoot… Not good…
Like unless Igor and Taine are in the doghouse then there’s just no logical explanation for them not getting run. This lineup and matchup is the perfect opportunity to let them get live game experience and our HOF coach is deciding instead to play….Stattmann, a 4th year who wouldn’t start on 300+ teams and a walk on. Make it make sense to me because my head is spinning
Can someone provide a source for this 8 man rotation rumor?
Edit: other than what we just saw
It’s very hard to watch Armaan excel at every single facet of basketball other than the one he was specifically brought here to do. Would (probably) be this team’s best piece if could shoot it over 35%
Was watching him exclusively on offense off the ball. He was open but needs to ask for the ball or atleast let the guys know hes open. Real nice pass
