I personally dont think it is right to call a girls/ womens player an dawg. Cause there is a word for that you know
She’s a [INSERT OTHER COOL ANIMAL HERE]
I’m out of town (visiting colleges with younger daughter), but wife and older daughter enjoyed the game very, very much and shared this: (if I can post it…)
Edit - Nuts. Wrong kind of file, won’t let me post. It’s a short vid of right after time expired.
Well, I can add this, at least, a little before Sam was shooting final FTs.
That goes on my short list of best games I’ve attended in person. We knocked off #5, our hated rivals, on Senior Night… and I’m especially thrilled to see it for these particular seniors, as they’re the group that brought our program back from the dead.
Plus the crowd energy never let up.
You made me realize has to be special for Sam after all she’s been through to come home and be part of this.
Sam was in tears during the Senior Night ceremonies after the game.
Mox pointed out that Sam was her first-ever recruit at UVA, and emphasized the importance of Sam’s commitment because it “made it okay” for other talent to come here too.
That’s so true I forgot she was the first to lock in. The way Sam embraced being a Hoo being home. It’s awesome.
I’ve never sat in the lower deck and had no idea there were screens underneath the scoreboard that lower deck people could watch.
During mens games those monitors show upper deckers picking their nose and shit.
I do wonder if the popularity rise in women’s basketball is in part due to all the new NIL/Portal/SEC football noise being less prominent in women’s sports? Of course you still have high earners but the sport just feels more pure, even with the huge talent disparity that still exists in the sport.
When he said “trust me, I’ve seen some mens games that were hard to watch” it was nice of my old Spanish I classmate not to add “in this very building in fact.”
Thanks Kenny.
I’m not sure either way, but some folks would say it’s the opposite:
Would this little hype thing exist per NIL?
Will be interested to see the NET bump today. We were #62 and Tech #14 going into last night’s game.
I think we were all wondering if he was going to elaborate. Ha
Sorry if I missed it, did they end up honoring Mir or no?

Hope this means we get her back next year. Perimeter depth looks great but need the front court rebuilt with Taylor, Sam, and Lauterbach moving on. Mir would be a big part of that.
A win like that could go a long way inlfuencing some good players to come our way.
Are we thinking 3 guard lineup with Johnson, Clark & McGhee (who has good size for a G), along the McLean and an impact transfer big from the portal?
Noyan is a frontcourt player right? Also the one incoming freshman is listed as a 6’2” forward, currently #93 in ESPN’s recruiting rankings.
Jillian Brown may fight for a starting role next year as well, she’s had a nice season off the bench, as good as McGhee. Paris and Mo start, Mir hopefully back at a forward spot, Brown and McGhee working in (one starts, the other a key reserve), maybe add in Yonta Vaughn (who’s missed almost half the season with injury), get rookie Breona Hurd some minutes backing up at forward. I think the big need is for a transfer forward/center, someone to take over for Taylor and be tough inside and on the glass, and maybe see Noyan keep developing as the backup there. Mox wants to go 10 deep, and with five seniors moving on (Sam, Cam, London, Lauterbach, and Lawson) and maybe others transferring (maybe Smith or Pauley?), there’s going to be room to add a few players this spring, whether transfers (where, again, there’s immediate front court PT to sell) or late-find HS recruits.
