I agree. Coach Mox has started (or restarted) an energy and level of excitement around women’s BB that was sorely lacking for far too long. I’m excited for what I expect to see from the team.

That’s huge. It was coming off a screen but it looked like no contact/didn’t see a bump. That and her immediately not being able to put wait on it is scary.
Also man the women’s team has the potential to be legit and thats even with Mir McLean and Sam Brunelle slowly being worked back in later in the season.
Kymora Johnson straight up looked like the best player on our team, Cadey Pauley showed her shooting touch, Yonta is kinda like a reece type in terms of defense first guard. And Jillian Brown and Paris Clark showed high level driving and dishing.
Front court, Cam and Clarkson shoud be a legitimate 1-2 punch, and the tall k state transfer is tall. Did I mention she’s tall?
Also Kudos to coach mox. This is the first time in my entire UVA fandom I have known the names of more than 1 player on the team. Im going to actually tune in and try to catch all their games this season like last year.

Yeah the women are going to be exciting this year but they’re probably still a year away from challenging for the Top 25. If Sam and Mir were healthy this year I might be willing to buy into them being ahead of schedule, but we’re going to miss their veteran presence in the frontcourt, and frankly I’m skeptical either really returns to top form this year at all.

With the other pieces I don’t think Sam is super important but Mir is

Either or both could redshirt. Mir also has her Covid year after this one if she so chooses to use it. I’m not sure about either of their pro prospects, I doubt Sam has much given her extensive injury history, so she might want to stick around and earn more NIL money while doing her media work. Mir maybe has a chance(?), but it’s just hard to break into the WNBA with only like 100 roster spots in the league.
