Do we think BC is leading the league in games on the CW? I donât think theyâve had a single conference game on ESPN/2/U.
this season on One Tree Chestnut HillâŚ.
Yeah, a little surprised she didnât immediately clarify because Iâm googling trying to figure if I was the one who misunderstood it. Even my wife, who is not the junkie that I am, was like âthatâs not right is it?â Maybe she was trying not to show him up (he is old enough to be her dad, probably), and she probably takes courses in how not to be Cory Alexander, who will gleefully correct his partner whether heâs right or not, but it made it more embarrassing that she let it persist.
You have to be careful as an analyst how much you correct the play-by-play talent live on the air⌠If you go back and listen to it, I think she started to and then thought better of it, and just went with it until the replay could basically verify what she already knew
Not to derail the conversation, but season 2 of The Rehearsal dealt partly with how airline co-pilots would go along with a pilotâs error because of the inherent power dynamic between the two roles.
The Rehearsal is an incredible show.
But, yeah, Debbie definitely decided in the moment to just let Wes slide with his misunderstanding of the rule.
I mean, not to be a d**k, but itâs inexcusable that Wes didnât know the rule and she shouldâve just corrected him. How many times has he likely watched replays where they are trying to figure out if the ball left someoneâs hand before the shot clock. Itâs like questioning whether you can pick up your dribble then dribble again.
Agree. See the aside to Cory Alexander above. I assume she knew and moved to correct but thought twice. It would have been better if she had just quickly corrected and moved on because not correcting meant that he persisted in the error for what felt like several minutes and repeated it a few times which made him look way worse than if sheâd just corrected it initially. ![]()
I will say, perhaps in defense of Antonelli, Durhamâs comments were so disorienting that I momentarily wondered whether I misunderstood the rule or if the rule had changed.
I second this (Haneyâs) comment, even though I know basketball well.
Sheâs actually a year older than he is. Fun fact: Wes was a fraternity brother of my brother at Elon.
Same, I was totally thrown off.
There are enough rule changes between pro and college annually that I thought I had just missed this one, and not enough time passed/I was too distracted by the game itself to realize that the rule change would have been absolutely ridiculous.
I came to my senses quickly enough but it was genuinely very very confusing for a second.
I wouldnât blame her at all for having the same reaction I initially did which was âsurely Wes Durham, de facto face of the ACC Network and son of âthe Voice of the Tarheelsâ knows the rules on shot clock violations, I must be missing somethingâ
Ridiculous moment, I donât blame anyone else for it besides Durham.
We knew from Malloryâs shot in OT2 vs VT that it only matters when the ball leaves your hands, as long as the ball hits the rim or goes through the hoop. I was wondering if hitting the bottom/lower half of the rim somehow didnât count as a shot, which would raise all sorts of absurd judgement calls.
Just to steer the conversation back to the game against BC Saturday, I would like to say for the record that we have no chance.
is he hurt?
Donald Hand Jr has been awful shooting on the season. So he drops 40 on us with ample shots of Donald Hand Sr in the crowd getting hype
