Could it be possible the ACC gets 3 in that way? I think it would take some help but I wouldn’t rule it out

The only ACC team I care about making the CFP is UVa. I do not care if the ACC sends 1, 2 or 12 teams to the CFP as long as UVa is one of them.

I don’t care about keeping the corpse of this zombie conference alive. Take whatever we can and let the rest fight for the scraps.

Florida State is not coming through for us

One of the schools we recruit…. What a crazy ending.

It’s so silly that FSU losing this game might be the difference between us making the title game/playoff and not. Hopefully nine game schedule will help a little, but please bring back divisions

If I’m doing this right, if GT beats Pitt, SMU wins out, and we beat VPI, we’re in if two of the following happen:

UNC beats NC State

VPI beats Miami

Duke beats Wake

If only one of those happens, it goes to the computer ranking.

If none of those three happens, SMU goes to CLT.

Actually, if Miami loses to VPI, we just need one of those scenarios.

Correct though Pitt over Miami would also count since SMU played Miami. VT over Miami would count for two since we play Tech and SMU played Miami.

Also SMU is way ahead of us in all of the computers, so we almost certainly need two, which I don’t feel great about.

Roughly 28% chance of a scenario where we don’t control our own destiny (Miami > VT, GT/SMU win out) and it comes down to this tiebreaker

BC, Cuse, and Clemson will finish at 6-18. Miami can get the four of them to 10 to 12 wins.

FSU is done at 2-6. If we beat VPI, they’ll finish either 2-6 or 3-5. Duke and Carolina play each other, so right now they’d be a combined 7-7. They can finish anywhere from 7-9 to 9-7.

So the floor is 11 wins, the ceiling is 14.

Games that matter:

Miami vs VPI

Miami vs Pitt

UNC vs NC State

Duke vs Wake

If Miami beats Pitt, we need one of Duke, UNc, or VPI to win. If Miami beats VPI, we need two of Pitt, Duke, or UNC. If Miami beats both Pitt and VPI, we need both Duke and UNC to win.

That’s all so that it doesn’t go to another tiebreaker.

Just want Louisville or Pitt to win tomorrow so I can stop worrying about all the silly tiebreaker math and it’s win and in. It would be such a lame way to miss out on the double UVA Charlotte weekend

I’m not sure I can take it if we go 7-1, beat VT, only loss because a cheap shot on our QB and we lose out to new blood SMU after being in this conference for 75 years. Especially with how winnable the opponent would be in the champ game. Seemed like a minuscule chance that has now grown to about 1 in 3, which I’m sure will be 50/50 after this weekend

It’s more likely 3 would make the ACC Championship game than the CFP.

Idk I mean if UVA Miami GT all win out and Hoos beat GT in a tight ACC champ game it would be close… I don’t think GT has any business in this game with Georgia but they have a good coach, star QB and really should’ve beaten the dogs last year. Stranger things have happened on rivalry week.

Virginia winning is all that matters. The rest is all details and distractions

If this is accurate we want GT to beat Pitt. Can clinch today if UNC, Louisville, and Pitt win

That’s the greedy outcome we want. The first outcome we want is just to guarantee that we make the champ game if we beat VT. So I’ll be rooting for Pitt unless Louisville wins

Good news is the order of the games today means we’ll know what’s on the table

More Belichick/Jordon drama in the news. Maybe that lights a fire under him to beat Duke.

Would be an epically UVA-appropriate result.
