1-1…staying alive, still not hopeful but we’re still watching.

Anybody know any cool “behind the curtain” facts or anecdotes about these two teams? Other than what’s in the media. I need something to get me going and start to develop a long-term hatred for these new ACC rivals.

One of those was the Jarred Reuter game, the one time he came up big. Those Cal teams were good. Cuonzo Martin had brought in some dudes, allegedly paid for them of course. Jaylen Brown Ivan Rabb.
My wife is a Cal grad. She said back in her undergrad days, Stanford fans would taunt Cal fans by jingling their keys and chanting, “We got in! We got in! We got in!” Some entitled students right there.
Cal is more like us. Stanford is more like Duke.
Turns out he’s at Missouri St for stint #2 now. Who should the “you can always come home” move be named after? Thad Matta?

I knew it. I sensed it. Thanks for the info. I hate Cal with a burning (and mildly fabricated) passion that won’t ever leave my psyche (unless there is massive conference realignment and we aren’t rival anymore). Doing my part.
The Cal rugby program was the 60s UCLA of coligate rugby for the 90s until 2010ish and their HC is a good guy but also a bit insufferable and their assistant HC is an older Schyer

I am summoning some authentic hatred now for a team and school I have no history/contact with. But it’s working, slowly, and I will have almost Bass-Tech level hatred for them by tip-off. Jason Kidd went there and that will serve as my Plymouth Rock of uneasiness, hatred, and malaise.
Havs, jeez, you want uneasiness? My wife, BIL and nephew are Cal bears, and we all got along fine at Thanksgiving until the All Coasts Conference expansion. I am taking my life in my hands by going to this meaningless Wednesday-night game in orange & blue.
Maybe bring a nondescript hoodie you could slip over your gear if fans get hostile (or the game gets embarrassing).

Mike Montgomery was the coach at Stanford, moved on to coach the Warriors, then coached Cal.
