Mybe not hiding injuries, but certainly possible the linemen are not back to 100%.
I also think missing Brown hurts. He’s a different type of back than Taylor, more speed than power. Keeps the defense off balance to have that variety, and gives us more options. And for whatever reason, seems we’re not throwing the ball downfield as much, which allows defenses to stack the box.
It’s been awful to see our incredible receiving crew get almost nothing thrown their way. They deserve better, but we’re either throwing completely off or not having time to let them run their routes.
My current default is to always sit them. If Morris was diagnosed with a concussion he should sit. As someone who has battled the lingering symptoms of head trauma I know what happens when you take on too much too soon. In my day it was getting your bell rung and you went back out and played.
The Oline play the last month has been disappointing. Perhaps @newjerseyhoo is correct and some guys are hiding or still playing injured. But Wilson has been bad in 2 of the 3 games back. As a whole the unit just looks lost in the sauce and confused by basic stunts and blitzes.
I know this won’t happen but if Morris isn’t playing then I’d rest pretty much everyone who is playing hurt and focus on beating VT. We aren’t beating Duke with Kaelin
If Coach Elliott were to do that (he won’t), he should be summarily fired. We’re having a historic season, the ACCCG (and more) is in reach, and he decides to just throw a game? Getouttahere
I didn’t think our backup qb was awful, and was actually pretty accurate on the short and intermediate routes with time, but the crooked helmet did not instill confidence.
