Money talks

You’re right about York playing. I meant younger IOL guys and didn’t include York because I thought he was an OT only, but if he can play guard, all the better.

What is the dollar value threshold for “your donation gets its own write-up on VirginiaSports.com”?

I’m gonna take a shot in the dark and say $3 mil.

Y’all still think the program is building something?

From a ‘friend of the program’. I’d like friend of the program level money. Is that up there with FU money?

Seriously, this is awesome though. No more worries about having the resources to reload for next season.

It’s in the neighborhood for sure.

Indiana has shown the path to any middling program. It’s up to the to open the door and walk through into the shining light.

There is no reason we can’t be Indiana! Or at least the ACC’s (for now) version of it. Honestly our path is probably easier from a geographic standpoint.

Will Indiana’s rise lead to a ton of good money thrown after bad at a lot of schools thinking they can do the same? Probably! Doesn’t mean we shouldn’t try!

I’m still very confused by the rev share cap though. Isn’t there a limited amount of money you can direct towards things? Is this just a payment towards the football share so it doesn’t have to eat into other things? Or is this marginal money that can actually get spent on football that wouldn’t otherwise have been?

Having more upward and downward mobility is healthy for a sport.

What a fund game with would be to guess which “friend of the progrum” is donating.

Can’t believe Katie Couric is funding UVa football!

If your pockets are deep enough, you can fund a cancer center AND the football team.

Totally agree.

I’m fine with UVA occupying the ACC’s version of Indiana.

I’m also fine with other programs following the Indiana route. Just because you have money doesn’t mean you’re going to spend it correctly and be successful. The well run programs will still rise to the top.

Way past FU money

The reality is we probably have more of these “whale” type alumni than the vast majority of schools who care about being relevant in football/major college athletics. We just had to convince them to give to football/athletics. The new era where there’s a more direct correlation between dollars and on field/court success makes that an easier pitch to make.

Feeling fine.

No reason the Hoos should come out strong and take care of business.
