If enough season-ticket-holders tell VAF they wonāt renew without a coaching change, maybe the administration will take it seriously.
My parents didnāt renew their seats in 2002, and thatās when I got mine.
23 seasons, and Iām done if this staff is back next year, saving $2 grand and my fall Saturdays.
It is time to try something completely outside the box to add juice to the program. Go the āCoach Primeā route and see if Chris Long would bite. Yes, he is much more green than Deion, and would need a legit staff. But at this point, something new has to be tried.

Or we could do what has worked here and hire someone who has a background in working with the conditions existing at UVA regarding restrictions with who they can recruit and getting the most out of their players (Bronco and Welsh)

I really have never understood the whole ārestrictionsā talk.
Michigan is often ranked higher than us in academics. Stanford has had many good teams. Duke is often more competent than we are. UCLA is sometime really good.
Yes Cal and Vandy are bad but Iāve never understood why itās such a supposed problem at UVA but not elsewhere. What is different here?
To this day I still think Grobe over Groh and we have a different trajectory.

Because we have a history of presidents saying shit like ājocularā when referring to our sports programs, and the Gooch Report, and more.
Grohās recruiting started falling off when a few of his guys were kicked out. Casteen and the deans had to show who was boss. OC Wardlow was made an example, for instance.

The one silver lining Iāll take with the Groh hire is it prevented Sandusky from getting the job here. Thank god that didnāt happen.

Organizational change elements:
1 - Coaching - the profile for a successful coach at UVA is a builder with an eye for talent
2 - Schedule for success - get out of every contract for OOC games that is not ND and schedule 3 wins
3 - Staffing - add whatever staffing that is needed to bring the program up to P4 standard.
4. Decouple/deprioritize - the VT/UVA matchup is not serving the program in C-ville. The world will still spin if this game is moved in the calendar, played less often, or cancelled altogether. I am old enough to remember the World Series being cancelled. There are no sacred cows in sports/entertainment.

I will always be grateful to Bronco (and Bryce) for the 2019 season and beating VPI, but he lost two games against them that we should have absolutely won (2018 and 2021). Iāll give him a pass for 2020 because it was a strange year. George Welsh should stand alone in the conversation about UVA football coaches.
