Definitely shows the state of the two programs where on ārivalryā weekā¦ the game is being broadcast on ACCN. Could be ACCN+ next year!
I guess the CW was already booked.
Iām not really that opposed to it. All things equal prefer a night game over a noon game, and ACC Network is nationally broadcast right? Looking around obviously werenāt getting ABC Primetime game of the week, and then NBC Fox CBS all have different conference affiliations so that leaves the ESPN networksā¦ ESPN has LSU Oklahoma so we werenāt beating that. An argument could be made for ESPN2 over FSU Florida but then again why not have a real ACC rivalry on ACC Network? Makes sense to me I guess idk.
Flo Sports outbid
ACCN is why weāre getting the night game so Iāll take that over the noon game we would have gotten somewhere else.
Also us, UNC-NC State and Duke-Wake are the only all ACC rivalry games this weekend. Thereās your 3 game ACCN slate, and it will be the slate for this weekend most years. Again just super glad we edged out Duke-Wake for not getting stuck in that noon slotā¦
For those of us attending the game in personā¦
Dress warm.
CW execs choosing between F-Boy island and UVa-VPIā¦
The going bowling at 5-7 idea is pretty dead too. Just eyeballing, thereās 82 bowl slots and 77 teams with 6 wins already leaving 5 slots. VT would take 1 and the Eastern Michigan-Western Michigan winner takes another leaving 3. Weāre tied for 22nd in APR behind 5 win teams Cincinnati, Wisconsin and Auburn. So even if none of the other 11 5-6 teams win this weekend and none of the 4-7 teams ahead of us in APR win, weāre still out.
So just have to beat VT.
Not to mention weād be waaaaaaaaaaaaay down the pecking order in terms of fan travel and tv eyeballs
Thatās why Iād have preferred the noon slot. Playing on the VT frozen tundra is advantage VT.
The bowls have to offer the teams in order of APR, so thankfully those factors wouldnāt matter. But weāre out anyway. Only possibility of available slots is if bowl eligible teams decline (which could happen if a 6-6 coach gets fired and thereās a mass exodus of players that there arenāt enough left to field a team). I honestly donāt think there will be many P4 openings this cycle because of the uncertainty of the impact of the House settlement and revenue sharing and schools needing to conserve cash to pay for all that.
Esp when those conditions favor their strengths - run game and defense. So, once again, game will be won in the trenches. Favors Hokies even if they have to run out QB3
Night game at Lane with bowl game on the line?
D@mn boys it donāt get no better than this! You play and watch sports for this big games and this absolutely is that. Should be the loudest and most rowdy environment theyāve seen. Iām fired up and wishing I could be there.
Roll into that cow pasture and let it all hang out.
Iāve said it before, but I have a good feeling about this one. Younger daughter and I had the tickets up on the screen and looked into hotels but we ultimately decided against it.
I see an improbable, ill-advised, but ultimately successful AC 18-yard scramble for a winning TD as time expires.
Hoping AC wont be in the game but would be okay with a walk off TD.
UVA will have to focus on stopping the run. Tuten came back from injury and had 84 yards running against Duke. Also, UVA needs to hope that Schlee is still hurt and Watson gets the start. Itās gonna be a long shot regardless, but having a RS freshman at QB could def help UVAās chances.
Tuten playing hurts our chances, but I kind of doubt drones is back. Schlee didnāt look bad until he got hurt. 3rd string was good I guess but need to see more/not convinced heās great.
Bottom line though weāve all seen this story before. My opinion is Bronco missed the opportunity to turn the tide on this rivalry when he couldnāt take down a reeling team with its third string Head Coach. Now we have an opportunity to capitalize on their misfortunes again, this time getting it done in their house.
Defense will have to play its most complete game of the year to have a chance. OL needs to take how Techs DL completely abused them last year personally and come out with an edge. And coach needs to throw everything he has out there for this one. Should be an exciting game with a lot at stake for the future of both programs regardless of the outside views. This feels like another one that could set a lot in motion for the futures of both programs.
I would bet my house they cover a 7 point spread.
They care about this game more than we do. Itās true even when theyāre good and we suck. With bowl eligibility on the line for both schools, at night, in Laneā¦wouldnāt surprise me if we lose by 20+.
Correct. I think Pry is pretty safe, win or lose, but youāll probably see some of his assistants replaced in the off season.
