We beat the fuck outta these middle of the pack programs for a decade. They’ll do the same to us whenever they have the chance.

VT game will be very interesting in determining how many of these issues are road-only; they’re the best team we’ve played at home since A&M. If(/when) we lose, Tony should totally punt on this season, focus on playing guys who will be returning, and start experimenting with new offenses immediately

The decision making principles that lead to us signing Harris are the same principles that got us to where we are today

No we did not lol margin matters. We can obviously go 11-9 and make the NIT. We also obviously CANNOT keep losing every road game by 15+ and make the NIT. We will end up sub 100 in the NET

Im not worried if there is coaching change if that coach embraces NIL and we can hit a big hire. We have the resources and support even if Tony isn’t willing to take advantage of it. With the portal and constant coaching carousel things can change in one offseason.

Im really high on Bliss and Robinson/Buchanan (long term/not immediate).

There will be a lot of DMV/North Carolina talent in the portal to build a team on, on top of Chance Malllory and Adrien Stevens (both originally 2024 kids) to add.

And a new system. Less focusing on coaching outdated packline. More man and offensive development and less cowardice.

The psychological hurdles that are inherent with Tony’s scheme and approach, when not able to overcome with veteran loaded rosters and trust, is a bigger hurdle than any talent acquisition or loss.

I know im the positive one usually, but a coaching change actually gives me hope. Which shows how abysmal my current outlook of Tony is LOL. Still a hall of fame coach. But as others have said, Bill Belichick and Pete Carroll.

Also getting walloped by VA kids sucks

This week will determine if we have a chance at postseason (NIT or the slimmest of shots at NCAA). 2-0 and we maybe have a little new life. 1-1 and we’re on fighting hard for NIT. 0-2 and season is over

I dont think Gertrude is a fit here. He needs a more open offense (full court, run and attack). He’s just too horrendous a 3pt shooter in the half court.

If Tony doesn’t out of nowhere retire this offseason, Gertrude going to a big east school (that would benefit his game a lot) and filling that spot with Stevens (athletic bruiser more fit for half court) would make more sense for Tony in terms of someone who can maybe help us with his schemes.

I like Bliss a lot. But in order for that to work right off the bat, we need a bonafide alpha scorer at the 3 or 4 spot.

And since we are venting and my perspective is always recruiting, let me add passing on Cam Christie to the list of weird decisions LOL. (and going after Kaiser as the target there when he sucks).

Could use that wing 3pt shooter.

What would constitute a big hire for us though?

I won’t get too far into this because I know people here hate the “Who is next after Tony” talks, but we’re in for such an unbelievable conundrum once TB calls it quits. He’s created such an ingrained culture here that is very much unique to him, it’s gonna be very hard for anyone to come in and replicate that with the same amount of success or on the other side for anyone to come in, flip it into something completely different and risk tearing the entire program down. But at the same time a modicum of change is definitely needed, so finding that balance is gonna be really difficult.

Kirk Penney swap for Williford? To start at least.

Agreed. When he’s not hitting like today, he offers less than the rest of the wings even Murray.

Not ready to give up on Elijah’s shot so soon, especially off an injury. But yeah, once Fresh started talking him up, and I saw him on City Rocks, my first reaction was “well we’d waste most of what he can do great!” Hah ha. Pretty sure that reaction is still in digital ink on here somewhere…

In hindsight I think we missed an opportunity by not bringing in a new voice to help with our offensive philosophy instead of letting Sanchez rejoin the staff. Not to say that I think Ron is a bad coach, but we could’ve used something different with Getter leaving.

I’ve said this before but McKneely should watch some Kyle Guy tape and watch how he moves without the ball. It might help him
