Is Ron revived if we pull this one out of a hat??

Hope ARob is back, but people are way too up and down on BB when he has a great or terrible game. He’s been good this year overall, and I expect more good games from him this year.

Clemson is way better than Wake (#22 vs #77), but we’re smaller dogs (+6) because we’re at home. Let’s win another!

i say this void of any condescension… how has blake been good? He is, undoubtedly, the worst of the 9 man rotation we have. The kid refuses to hustle. He refuses to play hard. Cannot finish around the rim. Can’t shoot free throws. Can’t rebound. Can’t shot block. Did I mention he can’t rebound?

Nope.

Was ARob hurt? Sick?

The graphic last night mentioned he had a foot injury

Buchanan’s effort has been inconsistent and he’s awkwardly paired with Saunders - but it’s inaccurate by a long shot to say he’s been the worst of the 9 man rotation we have:

Taine just absolutely kills us on defense when he’s in the game (also wild when people cite playing him FOR his defense) without providing the offensive pop needed to offset like an iMac or even a Rohde.

He’s been good in stretches but really looked lost and gave up during that streak in January. It’s just been very uneven.

I can’t trust that performance rating if it has TJ over Taine :joy:

My stance will remain on Blake, regardless of what the stats say. I can 100% root for someone who is not talented but gives amazing effort. I’d argue that would be Taine. Kid works his ass off. Is aggressive going to the rim. Genuinely tries.

I cannot root for lackluster effort and, in my opinion, lackluster talent. Blake isn’t nearly as good as he seemingly thinks he is. Add poor effort on top of that? Not a good combination.

Effort doesn’t always equate to output (and is also subjective). Certainly your right as a fan re: what you want to root for or not - but pretty straight forward as to who has had a better impact on team performance this season.

I appreciate the stats based approach. But you can’t tell me you believe that Blake has been more impactful than Rohde this year, right?

Shoot! I’d even say ARob has been more “impactful” since the start of the new year. Need a board? He’s there. Need a hustle play? He’s there. Need someone to bring energy to the floor? He’s your guy. I think that is impact.

It’s not the end all be all and I take your points - and I agree I’d much rather have Rohde or ARob on the team long term than Buchanan.

But this is accounting for the whole season. ARob is a victim of fewer minutes and some mistakes (illegal screens and whatnot) and Rohde has conceded quite a bit on defense and had a few rough games early on that certainly hurt him (he’s also been on the floor a lot more than BB and we’ve had some really rough stretches) - but Buchanan HAS had some good moments throughout the season. Was passing very well out of the new offense early - had a big boost of energy and was in most of the lineups that were successful when Saunders was injured - getting offensive rebounds and the like, and has had a pretty positive impact when supported by another big.

Point just being, sometimes the visible mistakes and clumsiness (and lower energy) can obscure some of the positive things and sometimes the likeability and hustle of a player like Taine who we tend to want to root for can obscure that it’s been rough for us when he’s out there.

I guess, to complete my thought as I was mulling it over - I think you could make the argument (and it would be hard to argue against it) that we would have been a better team over the whole season if we’d cut both Murray and Power from the rotation entirely - and I don’t think you could say the same for anyone else, including Buchanan.

Ahh! You HAD to reel me back in :joy:

In my very humble opinion I’d argue that if we cut Blake from the rotation and let ARob work out the kinks early in the season we’d be much better off. But again, that’s just me!

The TJ thing is wild, though. To go from a 5* to someone who looks like they’ve never played competitive basketball is crazy. I was looking at the stats the other day. He has not made a field goal in 2025. 9 games played not a single field goal. Pretty crazy.
