šŸˆ Virginia vs Coastal Carolina, Saturday, 30 August 2025, 1800, ACCN

Nice. Will look forward to the ā€œnaked hazing - yea or nay?ā€ conversation just like I enjoyed the trenchant social commentary of the ā€œshould we have a female hoops coach?ā€ conversations.

Not sure how this compares to years past, but our starting O-line is old and large. All grad students and one senior. Everyone over 300 lbs except one. Skill level tbd but the experience and size are there.

Any word on Antonio Clary? I know he was injured at the start of camp, but TE said he’d be fully cleared midway through. Hope he’s able to ball out this year.

Only three players on our offense’s two deep who aren’t either a senior or a grad transfer, none of which are starters. That’s exciting for this season but also very scary for next season.

Only major surprises to me are:

  • Eli Wood starting over Andre Greene
  • No Tyshawn Wyatt (Injury?)
  • Donavon Platt isn’t starting
  • No Antonio Clary (Injury?)

Otherwise this pretty much all adds up with what’s been reported out of practices.

Was announced last week Clary would not be cleared to practice until this week. Will likely be another week or 2 before ready to hit the field. Same with Wyatt not on the depth chart (though I bet he plays Sat) and Platt not starting (he’ll get there)

Also, remember the ā€˜depth chart’ has been pretty unreliable in past years. For instance, if Wilson goes down for a play or games, it is likely Metcalf moving over to C and someone else coming in at RG

Lots of tickets left. Was hopeful that with a 6p start and an opponent that at least has had success this decade would see things a little fuller.

I’ll gladly take the discount on my lower bowl tickets though.

I was told just this morning that Eli had a great camp and will be playing.

I’m bullish on the spread but not the over under. I also don’t think that Tony will be fired after this game. I say the these b/c 80% of UVA footballs post are gambling or coach firing and not football, so I was just trying to stick with the mainline convo.

My vision for the game is that we are clearly superior personnel wise and really would rather not show more than we have to going into NCS. So that means running the bal with play action and play action RPO over and over. Just take the 7 yeard plays. Dominate the clock and ground and pound. If they are going to be air raid, that’s fine but that’s a good bit of boom or bust. If they have some 3 and outs and we respond with 8-12 play drives that works for me. Just lean on them, execute, move the chains. In the 2nd half get some reserves in there for some playing time and stay healthy. Use a lot of guys. People will sort of freak out if I’m right but it’s the right move strategically.

UVA 38 CC 21. That hits the over but I see that as late game loose coverage and they score some in the 4th Q.

The next week is a different story.

Glad for Wyatt, Kam, Bracey, Osborne to get a week to get back into football shape.

BBOC’s very brief conversation about our game- it’s a stay away because they don’t know what’s up with Coastal but do mention ā€œUVa is real back upā€ and mentions our O-line and secondary

We did avoid the trash of the week section though which we featured in more than a few times last year! Program on the rise!

They also LOVE Virginia tech which is frightening. The way they’re talking about the new DC scares me a lot for our game down the road, lotta time to prove it til then though.

They sent an email to season ticket holders offering cheap seat upgrades for this game. I don’t think I’ve ever seen that before(?)

That’s a good way to do it.

I know a lot of season ticket holders felt burnt last year by offers for better seats plus something else (T-shirt, concessions voucher, etc.) that was cheaper than their ticket. I know a couple people that canceled because it was cheaper to just buy the promo offers for ones they wanted to go to. Trying to fill in the good seats with season ticket holders first is definitely preferable.

Still an empty seats in the stadium problem either way though!

Their new DC could be really good, he probably will be (at least for some team), but I’ll be surprised if their defense is significantly better than last season after losing some really good DL and DB talent. I don’t think they replaced those guys with equal talent so I’m not expecting the potentially better DC to result in a big performance upgrade. Where I think they can be better is if Drones stays healthy.

Nailed it on the promo offers etc. It’s a bad place for a program to be but the reality is every fan knows tickets are available for cheap and there’s no reason to spend full price.

Only way out is with success

My uncle had his for >30 years (maybe even longer tbh, don’t know the exact number just know it’s been longer than I’ve been alive) and gave them up this year. Made me sad, my first times at UVa were going to games with him in those seats. It just didn’t make any sense for him to buy them anymore unfortunately. He’ll still probably even go to 4-5 I bet.

Any military personnel AD,retired, guard, reserves, or dependents download ā€œVETTIXā€ its free sports tickets to those members. UVA is giving out plenty for some games!

Football wears orange uniforms.

Are we going to have the Kihei Wars: Football Edition over Chandler Morris?
