That ref that asked Corey if he made the right call needs to be suspended. I’m sure they have a very scripted procedure around reviews - If you don’t think you have an angle you go to the other resource and ask if they have better angles. You don’t make the call, ask the commentator if you made the right call, then go to their monitor and double check. That’s just being really bad at doing your job and going through what is probably a completely rehearsed process for reviews. Seriously needs to be suspended for that

That game will look great on the resume. But I come out of it feeling worse about the team overall. The scoring drought was painful. Once Florida picked up the pressure and went all out to force the guards to make plays…woof were we bad offensively. And getting crushed on the glass like that…even giving up FT misses twice in key spots. Just can’t happen. Kind of a soft performance.
There are bright spots obviously. But right now if you think about what everybody said were the keys to UVA being capable of competing at the top of the ACC, they’re not really getting it so far. And while this is a good win on paper, that was not a high level game. Long way to go.

I honestly think it will all blow over pretty soon and be fine. Everybody is just in the heat of moment right now.
I totally get Tony being pissed though. I think - and I could be making this up - it looked like he was yelling “That’s not your job” at Corey. Which… it’s not Corey’s job to helping the refs make calls. I would have been yelling too.
But again, we won, it’s all good, and Tony isn’t one to hold grudges.

Honestly was it so different from our past rhythm? Slow start > Strangulation> Foot off the gas > Eek out a win.
I guess question is how good is Florida actually. The offensive rebounding thing is real. Past that I’m not sure I’m so worried.

Buchanan drawing all those fouls and getting to the line was HUGE in the 2nd half.
That Dante Rohde stretch to end the half was fun. Reece Dante is such a bad pairing which is a shame because individually they are so good/solid as the only pgs (respectively)

Are people actually mad at Cory Alexander? I was expecting to see jokes about it but scrolling through twitter people are actually angry at him. TB was mad at the officials for going back and looking again, not Cory for answering the ref’s question honestly.

I disagree with the overall sentiment here. Agree totally there’s a long way to go to reach full potential, lots to clean up and get better, especially free throw shooting and simply cannot go that long without scoring.
But Florida is dang tough. They have some quality talent, and that will show over a whole season. Their 7 footer will be one of the very best bigs we play all season - Blake fouled him out. That was ENORMOUS for us late.

During the drought, I was thinking, “Is the roster too inexperienced to have installed a couple of plays for McKneely to run like the ones we had for Kyle Guy?”
