That Rohdawg three from the corner that he grabbed out of his butthole and threw up with less than a second on the clock was the play of the game. Love me some ROHDAWG!!!
Great win! But how many damn times did they need to show all those FSU buzzer beaters? haha
Prescient
Marvel just had to piss me off 8 minutes into the new season
Tip of the cap to Rohde. Much maligned on this board, thank god he spent zero time listening to the armchair experts. Dude went to work and made significant improvements in his game. Hope he can be convinced to be a stay over for the next regime.
First one is Sanchez’s presser. Interesting that when asked about Blake’s passing (4 assists, 1 TO), he talks about how they knew going in they would be asking him to do more of that because of how FSU played.
Rohde looking like a poor mans Andre Miller
Rohde now leading the team in 3-pt. % followed by Dai Dai and IMac tied for second.
Really crazy stat from last night.
We had 4 droughts with zero points totaling 19:30 of playing time.
That means we scored 60 points in just 20:30 of playing time!!!
Wow!!!
IMac is sitting on 93 made 3-pt. Depending on how he shoots Saturday and in ACC Tournament game(s), he can become the third Hoo to make at least 100 3’s in a season. Curtis Staples and Kyle Guy are the other two.
Well he also has another year so…
The 3 point line was an electric fence for him… he never crossed it.
Career FGA - from 3 - 8.8 per game and from 2 - 2.7 per game.
I don’t think they measured usage back then, but I kinda remember his usage being off the charts. It was 50% Curt, 45% Norm, and 5% everyone else.
Maybe Hand was high, too
Here are the actuals

1997 was my 1st year. Staples bombed away and could get incredibly hot. Hand was the guy who would dribble up the court and randomly pull up for three with middling results compared to Staples. And Hand could get to the hoop at will, so it made it more frustrating.
Since I’m clearly just avoiding work this morning, this SportsCenter clip has everything:
- Curtis Staples draining threes
- Footage courtesy of Jefferson Pilot Sports
- An immaculate court design at U Hall
- Stuart Scott
- Baggy uniforms
- The cursive UVa logomark on chairbacks
- Stuart Scott running out of Virginia landmarks to list
- Old school ESPN graphics
I forgot 97 was Hands frosh year. He def became higher usage later on
Staples played an average of 39.1 minutes a game that season. He was off the court for 52 minutes the entire season (we played 4 OT games, 1 of which went to double OT).
He took 333 3 point attempts and 82 2 point attempts.
There was some guy recently who took no 2 pointers for the entire season. I have to see how many 3s he took.
Dude from Oakland? Max something or other.
