Duncan Robinson got a bag. You got maybe a free pizza and some spending cash under the table. These fortnite streamers will never understand what they take for granted in this new age.

Sincere question- how bad does he have to shoot to earn a reduced role?
Just in your opinion?

I literally named my UVA internet persona after Ty Jerome, so if anything I romanticize him more than most. I remember feeling similarly to how I felt about Jerome as I do now with Rohde (again, at this stage of their careers). There’s a certain ā€œitā€ factor with regards to game feel that I feel like both displayed early in their careers.

Jerome obviously developed into an elite offensive player… Rohde, quite simply, has to score more. I personally believe his floor remains high and am comfortable with his usage, but I also predicted when he committed that he would one day make an all ACC team. He’s gotta start finding ways to score more consistently for that to happen. Seeing glimpses but I want him to be more of an alpha like you said.

I think you take the Memphis and Northeastern games with a grain of salt due to injury. Besides those games his shooting numbers aren’t great, but like @StLouHoo said, they’re passable given what else he’s bringing to the team.

Whatever Tony sets that at. Lol.

He’s 35% from 3. We are ironing a lot of things out.

You talk about how Taine’s defensive struggles are made up for by his impact on the offensive end. Tony sees Rohde’s vision and assists/hocket assists/would be assists as worth the shooting trade off, which is still 35% from 3 when not hampered with injury. If he was truly a bad shooter other teams would dare him to shoot, which they clearly aren’t so the scout is there that Rohde is someone teams have to respect the gravity of regardless.

This is like Christmas in January and I love the passion. Awesome how we all watch the same things and form different conclusions. #merica. This is what Forum should be.

Here’s my take from the car while driving to a meeting. Sometimes you pass more when you can’t shoot or score effectively. That doesn’t mean you have great vision or are a playmaker. With more volume passing comes more assists. Swinging the ball and having Isaac hit a contested 20 footer isn’t an assist. But that’s true for everyone as well, not just Rohde.

Love Rhode and we are all rooting for him. But there is one guy in the country who is in this club:

30 minutes per game
34% Shooting
30% 3 point shooting
30 % free throws

I hope he becomes more effective. He’s passing a lot because he doesn’t have confidence, which is expected after an adjustment to UVA from St. Thomas (I have vacationed there a few times. On cruise ships. Love the Island!).

He’s not even close to Ty. He’s not setting any assist records- anywhere ever. Let’s all root for him to find his way. But we should never compare the two again.

Lastly, how do you guys feel about the Epstein list?

All I said, and was responding to your romantic self, is Rohde is 30 minutes,34 from 2, 30 from 3 and 30 from FTs.

Literally is all I said

Edit: totally agree on fun part

What if I said Rohde was the third best defender on the team

I think a lot gets lost in written form. Im not attacking or being mean spirited (except towards Dave).

I think this is where a breakdown of clips could help, because I dont think this assumption is true and I think visually you see how Rohde forces the issue sometimes. And makes passes outside of the scheme.

30% FT shooting is an irrelevant stat. He’s taken 10 shots. Yes, it is not good, but it isn’t costing much. He also shot >80% last year, so it’s not like he’s not capable of making them. Hell, he probably should’ve gotten 4 or 6 more attempts last night, but alas, carolina refs.

But in a generally good way, as evidenced by his low turnover rate.

I love all of that (non romantically love) Meaning your point of view and how you are digging Rohde. You could be seeing things different than me but it right now is: 30, 34, 30 and 30

Let me say it another way. Do you think guys worry/ prepare for Rohde the way they did for Ty? At same stages

How many of his 6 three point attempts last night were contested?

I just scanned through this debate, so I need some clarification. At one point I thought Tony was benching Jerome in favor of Rohde, which I disagree with. Who is getting Rohde’s minutes in this hypothetical reduced role?

First time I read this I saw ā€œon the islandā€

I think yeah. If he was a bad a shooter as stats show, they would leave him wide open. Instead teams are giving him the same respect as McKneely trying to run him off the line and forcing him to drive against physicality where he might not be as comfortable yet (Jerome craftiness is what he lacks in these situations).

I know you arent. Me either.

I dont ask for much. Just dont call me romantic unless it involves knowing that we will never have another Bryant Stith and that Bryant was 3 levels above anyone since

But you can call me romantic if you want

I do think we should ignore Rohde’s 45 assists though. It’s only 13% of our made FGA. If you add up the next 3 highest non-reece players’ assist total, it’s 50, so 45 kind of sucks. also, he’s only getting so many assists because he plays too much.
