UMDās starting RB Roman Hemby is another guy that we missed out on, was a low 3 star that we offered but never really pursued heavily. Between him and Demond Claiborne that would have been a really nice hypothetical RB room.
Yeah he torched me for like 185 yards on EA 25. @CoachRud I would strongly advise against the dime package on first downs.
I donāt think Maryland is better than Wake. They lost to a pretty average (below) Michigan State that I think UVA could beat easily right now.
Maryland defense is not good and their offense is 1 dimensional? What am I missing here?
Athletes/speed on their offense, that theyāll get the ball in space and pick up chunk plays against our back 7.
There isnāt a player on Marylands offense that is as good as Claiborne. The screen / WR ours play into the hands of UVA pass defense honestly.
I still think Greene was a tougher match than Felton will be.
Looks like weāre gonna have a lot of HS prospects visiting for this game based on the list JF is making on the 247 board. Shaping up to be our biggest football weekend in quite a while.
Theyāre completely different WRās, Greene is a big, physical possession WR who makes up for his lack of breakaway speed with tough catches in traffic and Felton is a super fast, crisp route runner who MD wants to get out in space. I think the latter is a worse matchup for our secondary honestly, we have a lot of guys back there who are tall and physical but I wouldnāt say speed is our strongest attribute. Itās clear that getting beat over the top is a concern of Rudās based on how far off our corners tend to play, which is where MDās screen game might give us some issues.
I actually thought our coverage on Greene was pretty good despite his big game, Jam Jackson was just getting a step late on some of their play actions and Greene made some incredible catches in tight windows.
Was in the gym when i saw this had to go back and throw some more weight on the bar.
The football social media account has been bringing it this week. Props to that intern
Doesnāt mean Greene wonāt be the tougher matchup. UVA doesnāt play press coverage, a lot of zone. The idea is to not give up the big play⦠Bend donāt break.
Greene is a tougher receiver because he can make difficult catches⦠Felton does his damage on getting the ball in space and I think uva does a good job neutralizing with the defense they play.
Is tonight the biggest UVa game since FSU in 2019?
No. Tech 2019 not only beating them but clinching the coastal.
Iād also follow that up with Broncos last Tech game⦠had we won that game we wouldāve started a streak beating them and (JMO) weād be in a much different situation today. They were reeling as a program, winning that game was all they had left.
But tonight is very hype for sure. Top 5 of last 10 or so years Iād say.
Agree
Tonight is huge but not the biggest. Iād argue last week was bigger. Getting to 2 -0 and 1-0 in the conference was essential for the team to achieany measure of success.
A win tonight and we can have the conversation of raised expectations. But a loss and the team remains on course.
Not sure if any football game at UVA is a big game these days lol
Anyone watch Game Day? Did they let Dawn pick our game?
I was trying to watch but came in a little late. Didnt see the UVa game on the board.
No they didnāt.
They didnāt pick our game. They moved the crew inside the stadium and had to stop for the anthem. I assume they cut a few games for that anthem time.
Former UVa commit ā but VERY happy to have Colandrea instead.
Weāre now 1.5 point favorites tonight in a lot of places after opening as 2.5 point dogs.
Thatās a serious line move.
I hope the moneyās right on this one.
