Memphis plays Clemson this weekend. That will be instructive. If they lose, I have a hard time seeing Memphis drop 3 straight. Or maybe they are starting their classic mid-season free fall early this year?
Who’s guarding PJ Haggerty is the real question here

I only saw the end of the second half last night when we were playing well. Seeing how close KenPom and Torvik have this game has me feeling like my guy Michael Scott:
Our 1st half last night makes me think that we’ve started our annual December swoon, so I’m not sure how to feel about this one. Well, I take that back. I feel decidedly pessimistic.
Solid hype vid. The team better be wearing orange though.
Honestly we’d have a fine record heading into nc state game if we win this one. Better than I would’ve predicted

Guys, I’m one of the biggest homers on this board but Memphis is such a bad matchup for us and is exactly the type of team that has been giving us trouble this season. I’ll be happy if we can play them tough and not run out of gas at the end. They have, like 8 seniors and super seniors and their strength is their backcourt.
In some ways yes but in other ways a sneaky good matchup:
- bad rebounding team
- They turn it over like crazy
- opponents make 3s at a very high clip
- 3 point shooting may be coming down to earth soon. Lotta positive variance for them so far.
- defense is middling
On the flipside they have a very good backcourt, which will be tough to defend.
We were turning the ball over like crazy vs Bethune. Last year’s game was ugly turnover wise and that was with Reece at pg.
Well, something to cheer for
Watching some of Clemson/Memphis. Memphis looks more athletic but less physical than last year. They also aren’t super long, starting 6’, two 6’3” and a 6’7” player. They’re very experienced though and their general athleticism is making Clemson look really bad right now.
It’s beautiful.
