the way you consume watching sports must be absolutely miserable. An entirely new team of players and you’re willing to give them zero grace.

I didn’t say they suck. I said I’m lower on them than I was going in. That doesn’t mean it can’t be a good year. Maybe my expectations were high. Settle down

NCST has an entirely new team of players and they look awesome. It can be done. Again that doesn’t mean we won’t have a good year though

What that looked like to me last night was a hot start followed by losing focus at the end of both halves. Play got sloppier and more disjointed and in the 2nd half, it looked like some fatigue might’ve set in too, maybe explains Chance’s FT misses. At full throttle for 40 minutes, UVA wins that game by 40 points. I’m not gonna take a whole lot one way or another from this game.

Just finished watching and while we definitely looked sloppy, there’s nothing im too worried about. The handwringing is over the top. I just don’t know what people expect from an entirely new team.

It’s very clear that we are loaded with talent. Moreso than we’ve had in quite some time and it’s going to be a lot of fun once it starts to come together

Through literally 2 games

Probably more! But also, we have to actually do it. You can’t just assume a can opener. #Continuous

Solid win against a terrible opponent. The framework is there for a very good season. We constantly attack on offense and defense, and not a single guy on the team wavers in this. Shooting will be up and down, but on plus nights, we can probably beat anyone making 15+ 3s. TDR is a legitimate top 10 PF in the country, and Malik Thomas should improve as he gets his footing. Sam Lewis and Jacari are really solid shooting wings. Chance is much better than I expected. Grünloh and Ugo get pushed around a little bit, but make up for it with rim protection.

Still a top 15 (ceiling) to 35 (floor) team, 3rd to 5th ACC, 3-8 seed?

Missed the game last night, from the comments seems I’m just asking for misery if I choose to watch the replay.

It’s honestly not that bad. Some really fun moments and flashes of brilliance. Just sloppy especially in the 2nd half.

Haha was being sarcastic.

I get all the projection and discussion about what we may be as a team, but the negativity is hard to sift through this AM. Don’t want to imagine the state of discussion whenever we lose our first game.

Not gonna break down X’s and O’s that’s our guy @Cuts_from_The_Corner craft.

NC Central’s staff was high on us and kept talking about how massive we were. They said they would’ve thrown out a 1-3-1, traps, and everything else if we figured the zone out. They were fine with Dalin having the ball since he’s not the quickest, and they really wanted to keep Mallory off the court (they think he should be the PG). Even their bigs on the bench were saying there was nothing they could do against us.

Most of NCCU’s guys aren’t getting paid, and they were saying how bad the NIL game is right now players are getting poached left and right and the NCAA isn’t doing anything about it. They asked about our payroll and said as long as we can take the initial punch from NC State, we should be good.

Felt great to be back in JPJ!

They were going to pack the middle if Ridder got the ball down low and live with him shooting outside.i think teams will do the same as he’s a unit to stop down low. Outside of ridder/hall they were just trying to contain the guys.

Sounds like staff need to work with De ridder on being more comfortable with the kick out to the open man when doubled or when the opposing D collapses. Get ahead of the curve before opposing coaches key in on that

They dug in when he got it. Bigger teams will challenge him one on one till thy can’t stop him. All teams practice passing out of double teams.

Some of y’all need to get a grip haha. People are upset and questioning future success after a team with a bunch of guys who’ve never played together was just ahead by 30 points in the first 13 minutes of a game. Relax. The coaches are still messing with rotations, sets, etc. The guys are still learning the system and how to play together. The European kids are adjusting to American basketball. Let’s take a deep breath. And the idea that we somehow have underwhelming talent is a bit ridiculous. There’s no doubt we have some studs on the roster. Several, in fact. Let’s maybe give them more than a week before declaring we overpaid for them….

Man as someone who was just monitoring the score last night, I didn’t expect all this doom and gloom haha. Anyone know where I can watch a replay this morning?

Edit: found it!

I will say … Watching on replay very different than real time. I was jankily fast forwarding to catch up to real time on the app while paying loose attention to the in game thread and didn’t feel as frustrated as it seemed to feel to most watching live. Just different experiences knowing the score at the end / not live.
