I think UVA wins this weekend. UNC having an extra week to prepare gives me pause, but it’s not like UNC is preparing for a top 25 team or anything. I don’t want to think about what a loss does to this season. We can broach that if it happens.

Gotta win this game. Must win. If we don’t win this one, I think we finish the season with 7 straight losses to finish 4-8 with no momentum going into next season.
Win this one and I think we pick off 1, maybe 2 more. Go to a bowl, get the extra practices, solid momentum going into next season.

Echo everyone’s sentiment about it being a must-win, but could be a funny turn of the screw if beating top 10 (at the time) UNC last year saved Elliott from the hot seat and a loss to a bad UNC team a year later put him right back on.

I’ll be generally happy with a win of any kind but I want to see us win pretty big and play a full game. We’ll need to play well for 4 quarters to beat any of SMU, Pitt, and VT and I think we need to show we can do that starting with UNC

I just got to thinking. Tony Bennett retiring probably makes it less likely that Tony Elliott gets fired this season. I doubt the athletic department has the resources to conduct 2 high profile coaching searches in 4 months (or the money to hire 2 coaches either).

TE’s getting another season unless we lose out and get blown out in all our games down the stretch, it would have to be dramatically bad.
With that being said, no bowl game = make our break year next year for Tony.

I agree, I’ve always thought Elliott would get year 4 almost no matter what happened this year. But losing the last 7 in a row would be a rough look.
Just saying whatever chance he would’ve had to get fired might be even lower now.

This season had gone to script as the kids say.
4-3 competitive in all 6 games as @UVApride7 said it would take an epic collapse for CTE to lose his job. While the fanbase has not been energized the program is.
Lines up well for a winner take all 25. Vet Qb largely a vet lineup cant ask for more

Idk about vet lineup for next year. We’re gonna lose a lot defensively I’m afraid.
My guess is we win this weekend, lose the rest and he comes back on a very warm seat needing to make a bowl.
