Ha ā if that were the case, Tony has the upper hand and could fire his OC for insubordination.
Brutal. Feel for X
When to the game today and I gotta be honest I did something I have never done in my entire life as a fan⦠with 12:21 left on the clock I left.
I donāt know what excuse you can possibly make for Colandrea today. He was terrible. Thereās 0 chance you could ever convince me the offense today wouldāve been worse with Muskett. And I say this completely not thinking this is all ACās faultā¦
They shouldnāt have rushed AC to the job. I was a semi vocal supporter of Muskett getting the job (made multiple posts) in the preseason. Point blank AC isnāt ready for this level of play. Maybe he will be in the future, but heās been put into bad situation after bad situation.
An offense not schemed to fit him, an ineptitude to call good plays in that scheme, and at different times this season other issues (not saying only them but an example special teams miscues) that have all compounded to make life for an undersized second year damn near impossible. This team needs a leader at QB. Thatās why QB is the most important position in football. The team is supposed to rally around them and soooooo often their play and their leadership truly show how good a team can be. Muskett shouldāve been the guy and shouldāve been subbed in today at minimum to start the second half. For Coach to not recognize that and to shift things in a different direction with his post game conference remarks tell me he truly isnāt seeing things.
I have a ton of respect for Tony Elliott the person. I have wanted very badly for him to succeed here. He deserves all the credit for how he has led the entire team. But at this point Iām hoping to be rooting for him in his future endeavors. Maybe he makes a change or adjusts and they pull off a 1 in the last 20 victory next week. If so heāll probably stick around but at minimum there will be some key staffing shakeups.
Who starts next week?
- Colandrea
- Muskett
āIf you make a change then thatās your permanent changeā
Wha?
Watching Louisville start a 7th year senior in the era of COVID bonus seniors and wondering why Elliott thought UVA should be putting our program on the shoulders of a true sophomore.
Maybe we can go and get Preston Stone once he inevitably enters the portal.
Agree completely. Like i said i dont blame AC entirely he shouldnāt have been put in this position to begin with. But that said heās on the field and has to be held somewhat accountable for his play. Multiple times over today he didnāt and wouldnāt throw it down the field when the opportunity was there. They put him in multiple weird RPO sets with both he and a receiver going across field in the same direction. I donāt know that he made a single correct decision/good throw combo on those.
Completely separate thing here but how on earth did we get to this point where our football team gets flagged for 12 men breaking huddle COMING OUT OF A TIMEOUT and we are having discussions about creating ways our basketball team can inbound and get across half court before a violation. We are 5 years removed from a National Championship and Orange Bowl appearanceā¦
Need to get coach beck back as OC. I think the OL is fine just needs a boost and a mature QB. Not sure we can sway coach beck back here with him under mendenhall butā¦.
Iād love to have Beck back, but I feel like heās not coming back here given we didnāt retain him in 2021. That was kinda messy from what I remember.
I mean it was a leap of faith at the time but des track record is not good. At least with him he produced good QBās.
āUVA coach Tony Elliott did not change quarterbacks because it was unfair to either with the lack of protection on the o-lineā
What does that even mean? Itās more fair to let the guy used to getting pummeled continue to get pummeled? Iām confused.
Why canāt we be like Duke in football? They have had two different coaches and have been better than us both seasons
Because they actually made good hires.
We couldāve had Elko if we wanted him, but we chose Elliott.
If that was a quote thats an insane reach
I mean if they said Lets not let @haney go in for AC cause its dangerous thats atleast kinda different
But if Haney was all time QB for bothe teams we may still be playing now
Tech getting manhandled by Duke early.
Not to worry thoughā¦theyāll look like the ā85 Bears next week in Blacksburg.
The OL was absolutely terrible today. If youāre in a three-step drop out of the shotgun and free rushers are already on you before you get to the top of the drop, youāre going nowhere.
Why didnāt Des call one ā just one ā QB rollout?
Maybe on purpose? The OLine? AC ran straight sprint backwards multiple times for like 20 yards before even looking down field
We call it automatic QB in my state ā the state which invented the darn game
