Going into the game, I had questions. Some were answered. Some were not. And, now I have even more questions going into the Florida game.
What did he say?
Foul trouble and a shitty opponent (so naturally gonna get less run). He impacted the game on D when he was in. He hit a 3. 9 points. Couple blocks. Handle look sooo much better. Maybe our expectations were different, but Dunn is not my concern and I have several.
Stock report:
Up
Buchanan
Bond
Groves
Down
Minor
Neutral (relative to expectations)
Beekman
Rohde
McKneely
Dunn
Harris
Murray
I agree with the poster who sees Buchanan’s progression throughout the season as the biggest predictor of how the team’s season goes.
Ditto.
Like headed into the game, I was like is Chipotle half steak, half carnitas a good move? And then leaving, I was like was that a fart or….?
So many questions left unanswered
Would put Groves neutral or even down slightly based on preseason chatter after scrimmages. His defense was … yikes
But man those three threes were gorgeous. His defense leaves a lot to be desired but our offense is so open when he’s out there and that stroke is pure
Yeah, he makes the offense significantly better, but we’ve gotta find a way to hide him on the boards and defense
I think Groves will be important vs Florida. Two big traditional sets. Slower front court and bigger but not uber quick guards
I’d love for Arob to play. He already has the size.
Rohde looked exhausted by 5 min left in the first half. Seems like his role is to make open 3s and facilitate a bit? Was hoping he’d be able to beat his man off the dribble against a team like this. Groves isn’t great defensively but we’ve been told that all offseason. Minor will seemingly not get many minutes, if any. Again we’d somewhat been told that already but I still feel bad for him honestly.
Those were the only three “negatives” that jumped out to me. Too many exciting/positive things to list.
Trying to understand our answer for that Marshall transfer we looked at.
Thought Rohde looked uncomfortable on a couple shots as he’s probably getting used to a more deferring type of role, but he still ended up 40% from 3. I’ll take that any day just.
Hope to see him get more comfortable as the season goes on. He moves well and has a solid handle so I’m cautiously optimistic he can be a 7-10 ppg guy
Not really a post threat. He’s like a sturdy but less bouncy Kadin. Play Dunn Groves at the 4-5 and make him guard at the perimeter.
Bond had the flu - didn’t practice yesterday, almost didn’t play today.
Handlogten was at 14.9% usage last season. Definitely more of a finisher than a creator, the focus should be on the guards who would be feeding him.
Literally Michael Jordan. Imagine healthy Leon Bond.
Wish I could flirt with a double-double coming off the flu
Uh-oh, the flu’s gonna go through the locker room. Wonder who’s gonna be sick for the Friday game
