Aaaahhhhh basketball!
UMES took Georgia Tech to overtime but also lost 94-26 to Georgia
At least I’m fairly certain our basketball team is good and I can forget all about the horrors of last night
I know Liverpool up 2-0 then to a 3-3 draw - terrible
The ACC Championship would have been nice. But the prize from there is game where a beat down loss is almost certain and the season comes to an abrupt end before Christmas.
I wish we played a more challenging non-conference schedule, so we could have a better read on this team before conference play. I think they have as much upside as any team in the country though. So versatile and deep.
Ole Miss is a bit of a mess right now though, I think that game couldve been close
Unfortunately, this game is scheduled for the same time as a virtual presentation by UVA Admissions for HS students of alums. So I’ll be watching the virtual presentation with my son while being distracted by the game.
Feel free to reach out to me if you want more info on the presentation…I went through all this not long ago and currently have a junior in HS…
Nice of them to schedule during UMES instead of Texas!
Will be nice to have a break game with UMES, but I really like how we set up the OOC with such a new team and totally new staff/system.
Texas, Butler, Northwestern & Dayton all challenges, but not games we could have potentially lost big. All in that 45-70 range nationally. None at JPJ. While these teams might not be Duke or Louisville, they’re similar to what we’ll see in the middle of the ACC pack.
I like this group to finish top 4 in the ACC, with potential for higher.
Yeah don’t want this every year, but for a full roster flip it was a really good warm up that didn’t immediately kill us in the rankings. Very smartly constructed. Seems to be playing out how we needed it to so far.
I really do get the sense that whatever brain trust is making the big picture decisions like scheduling and how to approach the portal really understands modern college basketball. Some of the execution on recruiting is basically the only complaint I have with the new regime so far, and I fully expect that to get better once we have a successful season.
I also like the OOC scheduling of Ohio St on a neutral site during ACC play. Good team we don’t see every year, and a good prep for March playing in a building that gives neither team a big advantage.
Thanks! My son is a junior as well. I tried to get into the in-person session in June last year but it filled quickly. Hope to go to that this coming summer.
My daughter (HS senior) has applied to UVA, and my wife and I are both alums. We got a letter from UVA a couple weeks ago that basically said “We love your continued support but hey just in case you didn’t know legacy admissions are now illegal in Virginia but we still love you please don’t be mad” ![]()
Yep… that was a fun letter to get.
I heard those go out now. At least I’ll know to expect it.
Same. And I have one already at UVA (3rd year). I also got a whiff of: “Just know that it’s really hard to get in now. You probably wouldn’t get in. So don’t assume anything. … And thanks for the support!”
I was always told (maybe incorrectly) that legacy admissions at UVA just meant an out of state student would be considered as an in state student. Otherwise, no benefit, unlike other schools.
My son pretty much read that letter and announced… “looks like I’m going to VCU!”
