We’re going to fail our exams.
If I’m reading Virginia Sports right, after the women’s game tonight, EVERY UVA sports team is off for the next week and a half. Woof …
Do… Do I have to be productive now??
Are there other schools that do this?
Do we have a sense of whether it affects the basketball team with any rust accumulation or loss of quality OOC games or anything?
I’ve honestly never given it much thought because it seemed like the right way to do things, but with college sports changed so much it feels a little quaint now. We’ve got a team of 23 year old mercenaries making millions and they’re taking a break for exams? Just kinda funny to think about
I’m still so interested in what courses the euro guys and some of our super seniors are taking. Is Thijs just a 22 year old in ENWR?
Last year, it was only six days, but now we seem to be back up to a week and a half, like we used to
This is funny for context, but seriously, I wonder how “vetted” these guys were during our recruitment. Obviously, there were some minimum requirements but I hope we don’t have academic problems. I reckon it is pretty difficult to flunk out in one semester but there are a few who aren’t one season only players.
What should we focus on during the exam break?
- Duke Miles
- Duke football win over UVA
- Duke Brotherhood
- Reece and Kihei playing together in Mover Blocker
Can we hang Duke Miles’ jersey at JPJ for his scrimmage game performance against us?
I was hoping we could have an extended debate re “Margin of victory and its impact on postseason inclusion and seeding”

Not until we properly honor Jeff Banks’s girlfriend’s monkey
Are sports teams are in terrible shape. I doubt we’ll win a contest in any sport the next 8 days.
Here’s a topic - revisiting the now-freshmen guards we were recruiting pre-Odom:
- Chance Mallory: Been awesome
- Acaden Lewis: Nova’s go-to playmaker, has been excellent as a finisher, but hasn’t shot it well from 3 yet. Kentucky probably wishes they could swap him and Jaland Lowe.
- Derek Dixon: Has had a bigger role the last 2 games for UNC, has shot it well from 3, less so from inside the arc. Playmaking numbers not particularly notable yet, as Evans, Bogavac, and Wilson all do a fair amount of shot creation for others as well.
- JJ Mandaquit: Has come mostly as advertised - excellent at passing, still can’t shoot. Only played 12 total minutes in the last 2 games combined after averaging almost 29 mpg in their first 7 games. Washington has been a little disappointing overall, though they picked up an important come-from-behind win at USC where they were down 18 at halftime.
- Keyshuan Tillery: #9 in the rotation for a middling Cincinnati team. Like the rest of his teammates, his offensive numbers have been not good so far in limited minutes.
Even accounting for Hoo-colored glasses, I think Chance has had the best season out of all of these guys; there’s maybe an argument for Acaden. Chance is up near the top for best freshmen guards when you sort by Regularized Adjusted Plus Minus: hoop-explorer.com/PlayerLeaderboard?gender=Men&tier=All&year=2025%2F26&
Plus “hometown guy who’s too short for the NBA” is as close as you can get to expecting 4 years out of a player these days.
More likely to try for 6 years (shout out Zakai Zeigler)
This Maryland game kind of sucks. It’s all downside. And as of now, it looks like a big downside. Apparently they stink, but also it’s a Power five team coached by Buzz Williams, so they could always beat us.
Yeah I’m sweating it.. feels like they’ll have their best performance of the season just to screw our metrics.
