The only recent transition where (1) the outgoing coach dictated the successor and (2) the program kept playing at the same level is K/Scheyer.
Now, I hate K. Heās the worst. But he was pretty single minded about making sure the program was in good shape, and was deliberate and serious about the transition plan.
Tony is a chill, normal dude so he didnāt do that stuff.

Personal vibe check: I figured weād lose more than 50% to the portal, but I figured that without a coach to follow, weād have kept 2-3 guys from last yearās team. And I was hoping for the young bigsā¦

I would have liked Gertrude, Cofie or A Rob, and iMac personally. But itās all recency and if the end results come June are pretty good, then no one will care all that much.

Iām not panicked, but I did kind of think a couple of the (current) VCU guys would have hopped on board prior to this dead period coming up. At least get the ball rolling.
Seems like āfollowing my coach to his new jobā is a big source of early transfers, and itās a little weird at least that hasnāt really happenedā¦ yet? Itās not ābad vibes,ā but itās also not good vibesā¦ (again, yet).
