It makes sense if we told them they arenāt likely/guaranteed to start. But even if we told them that itās still a bit odd to me. I assume since they were the only two who we brought in for a visit that the staff wants them. It seems like it should be an easy choice to follow your staff an hour away to a better program, play in the ACC, get solid NIL money, and be in the rotation with a chance to start. I canāt imagine our pitch was anything less than that given that we immediately prioritized bringing them in for the visit. I guess they could be fishing for more money but who is going to pay either them much more money than us?
Very few coaches reach the stratosphere to be in a position to dictate their successor. And almost always, the downfall is because recruiting tails off. That was never going to happen at Duke.
Helpful benchmark for me:
Michigan / Dusty May, all dates 2024
- hired March 23
- Will Tschetter, Apr 4 (announced return)
- Rubin Jones, Apr 19
- Danny Wolf, Apr 20
- Tre Donaldson, Apr 21
- Alijah Martin commits to Fla, Apr 21
- Roddy Gayle, Apr 22
- Sam Walters, Apr 22
- Vlad Goldin, Apr 29 (post testing the waters)
- Nimari Burnett, Apr 30 (returned after portaling)
- Nelly Davis commits to Arkansas, Apr 30
Thatās as deep as I went. I didnāt check any new HS commitments or re-thinks.
If time later, Iāll check Vandy.
Look at that tax day cut off
Kinda looks like Bam(Miami Heat) in that pic.
I also wonder if Donaldson/Martin and Burnett/Davis timings were connected
āIād like a āT,ā Pat.ā
āThere are three āTās.ā ā
[Vanna turns the letters, and the contestant thinks,
āHoly shit, what the fuck is that?!?ā]
Just Americanize that (pardon the pun) to Cheddar
Odom was hired March 23
Before April 4, he got 2 top five Virginia high school recruits to sign.
April 23 the portal closes for new entrantsā¦. Good chance we know by then the status of Gertrude returning.
So pretty much on pace so far with what Michigan did last year. Actually, ahead of pace right now
This is really good. Thank you!
Why not at Duke? Weāve seen it happen at UNC, Indiana, UCLA & Kentucky.
Duke is too big to fail apparently.
Duke is def no bigger than UNC, Kentucky, UCLA & Indiana in their hey days. The only other blue blood that has sustained and improve under coaching changes would be Kansas. Duke has steadied the course but they are still not immune.
Nor so sure of that. I am not a Duke fluffer but the sports entertainment industry has a seeming INVESTMENT in that programās prosperity.
Must be tough to go from Larry Brown to Roy Williams to Bill Self.
Kentucky won National Championships under Rupp, Hall, Pitino, Tubby and Cal.
Fans are fickle and todayās media loves to stir the pot. Fair or not, the narrative is probably going to change a bit on Scheyer if he isnāt cutting down nets Monday night.
Well thatās interesting. Does (Visit) means heās set it up or heās already visited?
Should we track the flights again?
