What was Bliss injury/surgery?

Everyone keeps talking that’s he’s still recovering. Does anyone know when the surgery happened and what it was for?

I think it was his ankle but idk what. He was scootering around pregame once with a boot on right after when I was in attendance. No clue what they were correcting or fixing.

Had the exact same thought as I proceed through the 12 steps re Perry. Other thoughts:

  • Is Eli working hard this offseason?
  • could Taine be a 4th year sleeper?
  • ditto re Warley

And then I was gonna go hunting for whether there’s anyone awesome left on the board but I think I moved to a different step.

It’s incredible that none of the UVA beat writers can get a story on this.

He had ankle surgery in Feb if I recall. It was to fix a nagging/ongoing thing.

Just saw him and he was walking on his own two feet with no signs of a brace or boot. He even appeared to laugh at one point. No longer concerned about missing on guards

Did he happen to be hopping on one foot when he laughed, or was it just a regular laugh? Chuckle or belly?

Actually [finger to ear] I’m now getting reports that that wasn’t a laugh, it was a grimace of pain

Probably some kind of stomach cramp…appendicitis!

With our luck this off-season, it’ll progress from needing a world class surgeon by 7:00 pm to expected amputation by 10:00 pm.

I’m not sleeping on Taine.

His offensive stats last year were excellent in every way except usage. (One could also quibble with his FT Rate and FT% but on 18 attempts, I think the sample is too small to say much.)

And of course his last four games, he showed a lot more skill and creativity while he got sustained run.

Those are averages of 26 min and 8 points per game on 8-16 2s and 5-12 3s with 5A and no TO. And I intentionally left in the last game, which was a stinker for him as much as anyone.

I think Taine will be ahead of Rohde in the rotation all year. I think he will show more aggression that we’ve seen. I think he’ll hit 3s. Let me post my prediction for him right here, so I can look like a genius or dunce. Assuming no new guards are added (otherwise these are void):

20 MPG
7 PPG
110 ORtg
15% usage

Obviously depends on who else we get, but I wouldn’t hate Taine starting, or at least a 6th man role. He’s one I wanted shooting more this year.

[offstage] “Taine Murray! You’ve just been rewarded with your first ever starting spot as a Wahoo! How are you going to celebrate!”

Taine: “I’m not gonna shoot!”
