I don’t know much about that, but damn that’s some serious dudes on those rosters . Is it all or mostly kids committed to Nike schools?

It’s funny seeing all the kids on twitter over the last season celebrating their 1000 pt benchmark (which is a huge accomplishment) and then seeing this…

They can talk about it during his career at Kentucky.

Maybe, but there’s a lot of buzz out there suggesting Matt Painter may be in the catbird’s seat. Given the turmoil at UK, any predictions concerning them, one way or the other, are more than highly speculative.

Sad thing is he wouldn’t be an anomaly even today. And it appears to be specifically a football issue and not an overall student or student athlete issue

I’m not sure what “that system” refers to, but how is “progress toward an academic degree” the solution if a school like UNC can make up fake courses that keep athletes eligible and then avoid athletic sanctions using a widespread academic fraud defense that wasn’t just limited to athletes? Tutors writing papers for athletes who are borderline literate and credit for classes that don’t exist at all.

Saw this photo on twitter. Buchanan’s team is ranked in the top 25 in the nation now (excluding the montverde/img schools).

There is not a sports based solution for academic corruption. If a university wants to offer illegitimate classes there is nothing the NCAA can do as long as athletes are following the same rules of the class as other students. And any governing body that replaces the NCAA wouldn’t be able to do anything about it either. Reality is the failure to punish UNC is on the regional accreting agency

And quite frankly that’s the way it should be. The NCAA does not have the legal authority nor institutional competency to be in the business of auditing classes

Nice. I know they have a second kid who committed to a D-2 school, I think? Maybe NAIA? And maybe a decent guard? Wonder if they play in any decent tournaments coming up.

Just checked- regionals and state tourney. Nothing travel coming up. They’ll probably be undefeated

There are no referees in life or academics. Cheaters get away with it if they have the money to lawyer up and bully people. That’s what UNCheat did.

Like I say, I dont care if you cheat… just dont do it illegaly

I’m one of those folks who takes cheating very seriously. I have no tolerance for it.

Honor is a forgotten virtue. Now a days people are celebrated for being clever about lying, cheating and getting away with unethical behavior. They say that makes them “smart.”

I have a problem with that.

If by “now a days” you mean the last 600 years or so, I whole heartedly agree. It just gets less lip service in the last 50 or so.

Several years ago, Ohio State AA linebacker Randy Katzenmoyer had to take some summer classes to maintain his eligibility. The classes he did take were a joke, but they were courses offered by Ohio State. (The fact is, these classes were no more demanding that the faux classes for which UNC is castigated.) Different universities have different mission statements, and must address different educational needs. The NCAA cannot address these sorts of issues.
