We will continue to recruit and land the same type of players CTB locks in on (and miss the higher caliber, multi-skilled kids we really need) and we eventually fall for the banana  in the tailpipe buzz that this kid or that kid was a recruiting gem :gem: that’s gonna shock the ACC. Same ole shyt.

Yea anything short of admitting things need to change is not going to inspire hope. Clearly doubling and tripling down ain’t working

I think Dunn took a huge step back from his early season form to what we saw in the last 10 games. It was awful to watch him lose that much confidence in his offense. Like you said everyone else kind of stayed the same (except for Minor who got a little better). I am concerned that player development, which was one of our strong points in the past, is really falling off.

Closest in the 2000s is Ollie’s UConn from 2014, and even he won one game two years later. Overall, they fell off more of a cliff, but our tourney futility since natty is pretty much unmatched. Yay us

Might be insane but the worst thing is that I don’t ever see this program bottoming out under Tony. It’s maddening but we’re still winning 20+ games every season because he IS a great coach. With that though probably means he still thinks his bread and butter is viable at a high level of basketball when in reality we’re just a program that has a really high floor with him as coach that’s scraping the bottom of said floor without doing anything to get back to the ceiling.

If Mamadi hadn’t hit that shot…

That’s fair, but it was pretty close. If we had won tonight, instead of being blown out in the first 4 by a team coached by a Dick Bennett disciple that runs more or less the same stuff as us but somehow manages to , you know, put the ball in the basket despite our multiple conference/national dpoy candidates, then maybe this season could’ve been considered a success.

Ryan air-balled 5 free throws this year and he might leave for the nba? Are our coaches the issue or is the nba lacking proper evaluation? Has to be at least 1

I honestly have a similar feeling. Awful team poor development horrid performances and they finished 3rd in the league with 23 wins.

Problem is the program under CTB is supposed to bs UNC like not Clemson.

I hate that it ends this way for Reece, he carried the team on his back all season. When he struggled tno one else seemed able to step up. Minor was the only other one who seemed to have a fire inside.

Ok. 2018 NCAA was a low point, maybe of all time. 2019, the best. Don’t think that 2025 will be as redemptive, but the book has another chapter or two before it’s the finale. Take care my LRA brethren, take care.

Boom! That’s exactly it. We saw the program go to a higher level than we had seen it in over two decades. We were on the level with Duke and UNC, and there is no shame in the fan base wanting it to stay at that level. We want our competitive rival to be UNC not Clemson. Well put Dragon!

Nba drsft is almost purely on speculation outside of a few picks. RD checks those boxes even when hia game doesnt.

I’ve said this before the system is broken. RD should be a 4 yr project that ends with a Zach Eddy/Bacot esq run but the league punishes guys for doing that because the league doesn’t want 23 yr old projects but they are okay with 19 yr ones esp when they become Kuminga.

The extra time in college in a system that looks nothing like any NBA system won’t help RDs draft stock and only exposes him to more critics. He’s kind of the baby bird being pushed out the nest and hoping he will fly.

Tony dominates the ACC. That’s the one thing that really hasn’t fallen off. I can’t entirely explain it. Part of it is lesser ACC, but it’s not just that.

Our shit mostly still works in the ACC, which I think is one reason Tony is loathe to change.

The other reason he is loathe to change is that he really really really hates to change.

I think it’s best for RD to go ahead and go pro. Love him for his hustle and intensity but he’s so far off from being a capable wing on offense I just don’t see it happening within two more years here especially if our scheme stays the same. And we could use the positive publicity of developing a prospect outside the top 100 into a two and done draft pick.

I don’t get it. I followed my superstitious routine perfectly and we got mauled. If I didn’t know better, I’d think I have zero influence over the outcome of the game.

Man, tonight sucked.

RD is nobody’s project . He’s the best damn defensive player any of you have ever seen! He came off the court and CSU started scoring.

You can’t call the best defensive player in college hoops a project.

Going to see if anyone offers a root canal and a colonoscopy at the same time tomorrow so I can feel better about this.

Post game was interesting. Mike Barber asked about the NCAAT futility of late and Tony admitted it is frustrating and probably a player and system issue.
