I think this highlights the questions I have about both 2021 and 2022 recruiting. Due to the pandemic, evaluations made by coaching staffs all over the country are in question, IMO. High school schedules were constrained. Last summer’s games, what few there might have been, went unobserved by coaches. In short, less is known about these two recruiting classes than normal. (I think this is reflected in how few offers that the staff has made for those classes.) Certainly, there is a general idea of who the elite players are, but that isn’t guaranteed. Recruiting is always a bit of a crap shoot, but there are going to be lots of mistakes made in the 2021 and 2022 classes. Highly regarded prospects are going to be exposed as mid-major talents, and mid-major, and lower, programs are going to find that they’ve landed elite level talents. Of course, this has always been the case, but I suspect the numbers are going to be substantially higher for the two groups in question. (It’s worth remembering that when a recruit has just two stars next to his name, it is equally likely that he doesn’t have high major D1 talent, or no one from the service has evaluated him.) Couple this with the new transfer portal, and I think we’re going to see a lot of movement next spring. Probably, the spring of 2023, too. With that in mind, I don’t think that there is anything critical about recruiting this summer. It would be very nice to get commitments from Traudt, Ward, and, maybe, Bond and/or Nunez, but there is a very real possibility that someone better will emerge this winter playing for VMI, College of Charleston, Drexel, etc., and they might very well be looking to move up a step in competition in the spring. With this in mind, I suspect that recruiting this summer is less critical than most past years. It’s good to get the ones the staff wants, but misses are not disasters.
I’ve only watched a little of this game but Traudt is really impressive. He’s at least 6’9, the tallest player on the court. He frequently brings the ball up and initiates offense. Had a nasty block that I did not see coming. It’s just such a rare package.
Tony’s probably still with Traudt

Coaching is a funny business. Bennett, Hoiberg, and Scheyer are all standing together chatting it up now.

Thanks for the content. Serious question - are there any inherent risks to having a “strictly” long-term strategy? This may put the organization in a position where current opportunities and resources don’t mesh.
Been in a super long Board Meeting, someone catch me up. CTB has been front and center for Jennings, Bond and now Traudt?
Yeah. No idea if he’s watching Caleb Foster (jon schyer was at both Traudt and Foster games which makes me believe the courts might be next to each other).
I’m not privy to anything in Virginia’s plans or its inside information, but I imagine every organization, regardless of the endeavor, needs long term plans (and goals), but the flexibility to react to a changing environment.
Yeah. Throw Caleb Foster in there and that’ll most likely be the Thurs-Fri summary, seeing each of them several times. Jennings on the same court next. Foster later tonight, then Traudt again.

Michigan present as well.
No UNC though.
Michigan was one of the schools in contact with Traudt pushing for a fall visit.
Maybe because Dawson Garcia just committed to UNC?
I think it’s more cause it’s a Nebraska vs UVA affair with the main competitors being the schools pushing for fall visits (Oklahoma Michigan UCLA).
I think Bennett slid over and caught the tail end of Team Curry (Caleb Foster). He was a little late making it back to where Robert Jennings is playing just now.
Bennett moved at halftime, think he just bounced around. Saw him sitting at the Run GMC vs Louisiana Elite game for a while then poof gone again.
There’s a 2 game window coming up without anyone obvious to see before Foster and Traudt in the last two games of the day.
Taking a peek at Curry 16u with 2023 guard Bryce Cash. Easy to see why coaches would be interested. Explosive athlete. In the distance, I see TB somewhat looking on in a spot where he can see 4 courts lol
Williford checking out Justyn Fernandez? I’d guess. He’s running the point some, looks good. He’s not 6’5 though.
Traudt 23 in black. From a game earlier on this week.
