Now that the weekend is over, any thoughts @HoozGotNext about CTB emphasis (other than Reed Sheppard) and how he views the 21-22 roster construction. Also, please elaborate on your comment that everything resets in July.
I’ll do a recap article. As far as 2022 recruits, Bennett clearly had a purpose of who he was seeing in DC. Cam Whitmore and probably Favour Aire. Staking his claim to Sheppard will the lasting story though.
It’s who he didn’t see too. Jamaal Brown, Noah Clowney, Josh Reed, etc. Doesn’t mean UVA won’t end up recruiting any of them, but there’s no urgency about it. If any of them were seen as important and attainable, Bennett would have been there.
The assistants are the ones doing the valuable work during these scholastic periods, filtering through as many as they can. Stuff that we don’t know about that pays off down the line.

Things change in July. Players rise and fall. Coaches find new recruits. There’s no guarantee if a school is recruiting someone now they will be when the dust settles. In fact under Bennett, it’s been rare.

Nunez vs Bronny James.
Only watched the first few minutes. A nice 3 and a nice assist but mostly it was the Keyonte George show. Also the big I was interested, Yohan Traore, apparently no longer on the team/with another aau team.

According to 247 Maryland writer, Cam Whitmore probably not going to take official visits until August so there is time there if the staff do decide to recruit him at all. The biggest factors will be the local schools who have all offered and he has already visited officially/unofficially: Villanova, Pitt, Penn State (new coach), Maryland. UNC might also be a factor on brand alone. Of course he blew up this weekend and even though he is ranked not top 100, he was on a lot of schools’ “to keep tabs on” list.

Lots of interest in 2023 PG’s and CG’s. Not much action on 2022 PG’s other than Nunez and maybe Brown. Could they pass on further PG/CG’s in 22 and go with what they have behind Reese and bring in maybe Sheppard and a PG in 2023?

Yeah unfortunately he really struggled this weekend. Did have a 26 point game though. I think he is a better shooter than what he showed this weekend for sure.

Both McKneely and Sheppard’s aau teams going to be at an event hosted by St. Vincent St Mary’s school (Lebron) in Ohio this weekend. Not sure if our staff has gotten a fill of those two or if we will still have someone there this weekend.
Coaches are only allowed at the scholastic events this weekend, not AAU. That’s for July.
