The way we struggled to shoot last year makes me think McCorkle will play and play significant minutes if he can defend.

I was a stattmann defender since day one but those minutes and usage came out of necessity rather than preference. He has a lot to improve on to crack through with the talent we will have but he does have experience in our system working in his favor for the time being. I swear to god if we see any hesitation on open 3s…

I agree, Big Ben, but when we won the Natty we had lots of shooters. We can’t have too many guys who can knock down the trifecta. (Dick Vitale voice.)

As best I can tell the basketball roster at VirginiaSports.com has been recently updated with new heights and weights, and pics of the new guys.
Of note, Jabri is a sturdy 6-7 and 214 pounds, Murphy is listed at 6-9, and both Hauser and McKoy are down about seven pounds from last year. Beekman and McCorkle both listed at 6-3.

Kadin still seems a bit light at being under 220 as Jabri is 4 inches shorter and at 214. Carson is a good size at 184 lbs already and Reece at 174 isnt bad either.
I’m thinking that Carson isn’t going to Redshirt…atleast I hope not!

I thought Carson looked pretty solid in the softball photos. If he can defend, he’s got big upside. Strong hair game too. 
The biggest surprise to me was Austin Katstra – 6’6" 245. That’s Larry Johnson or Corliss Williamson height/weight. That’s got to be a misprint, right???

Stattmann missed six of the 30 games, with most of the misses coming earlier in the season. In retrospect, I think this set him back more than we realized. He still started 10 games, which is something few predicted, IIRC.

Realized a bit of personal info was in that ha. But I follow some Louisiana beat writers and they raved about Reece for exactly those reasons. Just has that innate feel and control you love to see in a point guard.
