Now this is beyond Locker Room Access. Glad for him they figured it out and he can recover now and be back better than ever

That is certainly good news for the future for Carson. I hate he missed most of his last year in high school. It is amazing that he has played so well and for so long with this . He will be back better and stronger than ever. Carson is already becoming a favorite of mine and I’m sure many others when he comes to UVA. High caliber player and person as is his family. Wahoowa

@HoozGotNext that is amazing inside info there. Love that they were proactive in getting that taken care of. Hopefully he takes his time with the recovery and comes back strong in the fall

Yikes… kinda cool that he hasn’t reached his full potential yet, though

Did I log into operatingroomaccess?

Finding it now means no missing time at UVA and avoids the future injury…great for Carson. Get well soon!

Thanks HGN! All questions answered!

So even though this is bad news for Carson missing the remainder of his final high school season, there are definitely some encouraging developments. Its an interesting thought that Carson could of been physically held back a bit by this issue. Its not to often an athlete has to undergo surgery and the prognosis is he could end up an improved athlete. Also, I think it is important to give Carson credit that he is willing to make this sacrifice now and invest in his future. Lots of young guys would potentially keep quiet over little issues like this until they grow worse. Shows he probably has a good wise head on his shoulders. Excited to have him joining the team!

Carson’s situation and response is eerily similar to Jerome’s when his hip surgery wiped out his senior year. Here’s hoping that Carson’s career at UVA is also eerily similar!

Could have used Carson against that Syracuse zone yesterday.

I wonder if Carson will redshirt a year. Next year is so stacked with guards, and I think a bulk up year with Mike Curtis may be beneficial. Just something I’ve though about about lately. I wish him well in his recovery :crossed_fingers:.

Next year is only ‘stacked’ with guards on paper. Carson might be the best shooter on the team not named Sam Hauser from the moment he steps on the grounds. He’ll play if his defense is acceptable

That may be a tough decision. What I’ve seen of Jabri he can score from anywhere including the 3 but this year’s woes may make it harder than it once was. He could benefit from a redshirt year but the decision may be a little tougher now. Just a layman’s opinion though

In my opinion we’re definitely going to play Jabri next year. We need someone to be a swiss army knife like Braxton and a good post player like Diakite. He will greatly benefit from a redshirt season, but I don’t think we can afford him sitting out a year. We do have a good banging Shedrick, though. He’ll spread the defense out which we need in order to penetrate. If he doesn’t redshirt, he’ll quickly learn during the beginning of the season.

I didn’t word that well. I was talking about Carson redshirting not Jabri. I was just saying Jabri could shoot the 3 as well. Jabri will definitely be playing and probably starting. I was talking about help other than Hauser for 3 point shooting. I believe our offensive problems will be solved next year and there is a chance that Carson will be part of it

Ahh… that makes more sense. It would’ve been nice for him to redshirt under Kyle Guy and Ty Jerome. I think their styles resemble Carson. The only reason for him to redshirt is to learn the process, not to learn the position. Watching Carson’s highlights, him and our current guards play differently, so he may pickup new techniques, but not master his old ones.

Our biggest deficiency is 3 point shooting…as everyone knows one of the worst in NCAA. Just my opinion, I’d be surprised if Carson sits out next year.

@HoozGotNext

Is there anything to the fact he was at UVA and not Duke for his procedure?..or does it just make too much sense for it not to be done at UVA? Just something I noticed, given proximity. My guess is the latter, was just curious…

UVA doctors first found his stress fracture when he came up for the UNC game. Carson casually mentioned having pain in his foot so they checked it out. After that, I guess he was their patient.

I had thought that Carson might redshirt but with our shooting problems it makes it hard to redshirt him
