Reece with 7 points (from what I saw) in the first quarter.(crafty lay up, transition lay up, and a 3 pointer) Reece looks locked in tonight.

Intros had Reece at 6’4, fwiw. Probably not worth much but interesting.

I think that might be pushing it but hopefully…

Announcers had Beekman finishing with 19 points. Horton had a bunch of blocks can really elevate.

Extended highlights from Beekman’s game on Friday. Reece is #2 in black. Horton, the UVA football signee, is #24.

Any word on why Jabri hasn’t returned yet? Initially thought to only be a couple week injury

Im curious too. What type of injury was it? Also how is Carson doing?

Thanks for posting this, HGN. Great length and body control (same opinion I have about JAR in that regard), and several nice passes and finishes at the rim. Improving his defensive skills and learning the UVA team defense are going to be the major emphasis for him this summer and fall. Fortunately for Reece, he’s got the best mentor in Kihei for defensive fundamentals and continuous, maximum effort. Gotta believe that going against Kihei everyday in practice will really help him tighten his handle as well. Reece may be the 2020 recruit I’m highest on for long term development and program impact. Will be fun to watch all three 2020 recruits hopefully become part of the next CTB national championship team in 2021.

Reece Beekman is going to be a fan favorite. With Beekman’s length and vision and feel for the game, he’s going to be another great U.Va. point guard.

I have no doubt he’ll be effective defensively, but I’d add one more thing to his list of improvements: his shot. Yes, it’s good, but it’s not ACC good. Not yet.

I tell you one thing Tai’reon (Scootah) Joseph looks number 3 for Reece team, look pretty damn good. He actually played better than Reece and this isnt my first time seeing this. Im going tu find out why he doesnt have more interest.

Im regards tu Jabri, his foot injury was more severe than originally thought. I Couldn’t find out how severe. Jabri has missed 2 out of the last 3 years, which concerns me. Once for a knee and now a foot.

He sat a row in front of me at the Georgia Tech game. No boot/crutches or anything, seemed to be walking just fine. Are you sure its severe? Or could it be just precautionary? Seems like they’d want some protection for a severe injury.

On the other hand, Virginia has pretty good success with guys who miss a lot of time due to injury (Jerome, Hunter, Brogdon…)

Jabri has never commented on his injury. I don’t know the specifics. Only that it’s his foot. It must be worse than originally believed but he’s also been seen around walking fine without a protective boot.

As if on cue, thanks @NakedIcarus

Carson is recovering as expected, but being extra cautious with the goal of being back to full strength by summer workouts.

I said more severe. Basically the injury was more involved.

I have a broke bone in my foot as we speak. Because I dont want tu miss my son games, I did not have surgery. Im walking just fine and the pain is minimum. What im saying is. I have an issue but you would never know looking at me.

I mean it’s established that he has an issue. I’m just sharing what little I know.

I was responding tu the other poster about Jabri looking good.

I looked him up after seeing his highlights in this recent game and the game against Montverde. Found a reference to a Louisiana top150 camp that said he was a high motor player with more upside than the analyst remembered (maybe misquoting a bit). I’m guessing that most high majors would like a shooting guard to be taller than 6-2. Seems like the kind of player that Ron Sanchez could lure to Charlotte - kind of like he did with Jahmir Young who performed well for Team Takeover last year.

Dont curse me out but Guy JR Reynolds and a few others were 6’2 shooting guards. I personally think he is a combo guard. He is more of a driver. But I Iove his no nonsense attitude. He is a DAWG. Something we are lacking this yr. Only kihei is a DAWG. The one thing I loved about Ty was his heart. He didn’t give a eff who stepped on the court. He was going tu compete. A straight DAWG FAM. People thought he was soft when you looked at him but he was far from that. Guy had some DAWG in him also but Ty took it up a notch.
