2021 recruiting reset

Yeah because Bennett has never been in an NBA locker room. Oh wait! lol I generally agree he’s a better for the college game. Not for any of those reasons. He’d adapt fine. I just think what makes him special wouldn’t be as useful there. The teaching, culture building, overall leadership. An NBA coach is pretty much just a coach.

What seems to give him pleasure is discovering a player and then seeing them grow. With some of the recent changes and other stuff coming, I could see him giving an NBA job more consideration. Eliminating evaluation time, name and likeness, one time transfer rule. All complicate his job or makes it harder to do it the way he wants. Expect he’ll be here for a long time yet though.

HGN its very different as a player. You can do your own thing and stay away from certain crowds. As a coach, you are dealing with everyone. His personality and mannerisms doesnt fit a NBA environment. I think he would have a very hard time adjusting tu a NBA lifestyle.

TB’s history of failure throughout his basketball career definitely supports this.

There are many successful college coaches that failed at being a pro. There arent that many who were successful. So give an opinion and share why. Your post is tu empty.

Saw on the 247 board that we have a football recruit driving down for a visit. Unofficial I assume or even like an “unofficial”-unofficial. Apparently the recruit cannot meet with staff but they can meet with admissions.

Do we know if bball would be open to have a recruit do such a visit (not that the school is in anyway involved with this type of visit anyways)

I think “horrible” and “hiding in the corner” are way over the top. You also assume that TB would just play the same way in the NBA which seems pretty silly.

I agree with Tu but not to the extreme as he put it, and tend to lean more in your camp. Honestly I don’t see TB at UVa much longer. (what that means I’m not sure could be 5, 10 or 15 years) my point being I don’t see him as an Izzo, Coach K or even his Dad who is a lifer as a coach. His outside interest and priorities give me strong reason to believe he will bow out at some point to peruse other interest.

On the NBA front, I’ve batted this idea around a lot. I think if he was to leave UVA to coach and not retire it would be for the NBA. He’s at the top of the mountain for college hoops and basically any other college move would be inheriting a legends program (no win situation) or going somewhere that needs to build (he’s already done that). I could see him having interest in NBA game. There are plenty of uber Christian coaches and personalities in the NBA, and TB would be able to handle the locker room just fine. Like everything in sports he would have to find the right fit. He’s shown some traits could be beneficial as an NBA coach, turning the offense and the game over to Ty and Kyle in 19 is a very pro move. He would have to adapt and change his strategies to be more pro driven, but I’m sure he could and would do that if necessary.

Corey Evans has a similar tweet than mentions half dozen schools, Hoos not one of them. Long shot

I hate to post speculation without any evidence, but does anyone find it odd that Texas Tech is now in on every five star? I know Beard is a great coach but it seemed to happen very very quickly

Mahomes Effect?

There’s been a lot of that going on with football recruits. Suspect it’ll cross over to hoops this Fall if they don’t lift the dead period.

It was quick, but I don’t think anything exceptionally crazy is going on. They are on a pretty great run under Beard now and getting a lot of national love. Beard built up a program quickly, but it doesn’t seem out of place or fishy. When schools go from 0 to 5 stars overnight (cough Memphis) that’s when I raise an eyebrow. But I feel like TT has built.

If anyone finds a decent shareable highlight package, it’d be much appreciated.

Best I could find. Competition isn’t the best but at least he dominates it.

I like what I saw from the highlights. Can shoot the three and isn’t afraid to play into contact.

What is the assessment of Gregg from a recruiting perspective? Is he far along in his process and are there any teams that are considered the favorites? Would UVA be of interest if they offered? Would UVA wait to offer until Kaufman decides?

Arizona Gonzaga and Oregon all involved with Ben. Will be hard pulling him from the West Coast just like it will be Hard to pull Trey Kaufman from Indiana (in an interview Kaufman mentioned that his mom would move to wherever he plays and his mom doesnt want to keep him trapped but idk if he wants to make his mom do all of that). But this is part of the swinging the fences in the 2021 recruiting approach maybe. Also have to think they wouldn’t reach out if there wasn’t any hope of pulling him East.

Espn has him at 6-7 ranked 28th. Rivals him 6-9 ranked 72nd…#abolishtherankingsystem

Gregg has said location won’t be an issue. I think they’d have a really good chance if they go hard for it. I assume Oregon is the favorite, they’re putting together a big class. I haven’t been following him that close but get the impression nobody was trying all that hard before things were shut down. A lot of lukewarm recruitments from coaches who hoped to see more of him later.

And who knows if/when UVA would feel comfortable going after him. Bennett hasn’t seen him so that would be a breakthrough. It’s not really about Kaufman. Truth is I don’t think they’re that set on him, never are on one player at this point. They just want someone like him. That could include Gregg.

Your last Kaufman tweet had no UVA mention. Is that telling or are they conducting ninja recruitment?
